The British National Trust is aiming to get the UK's 'cotton wool kids' outdoors. Here is their list of the 50 things to do before you are 11¾. Except for #49 which can only apply to today's kids and which I've replaced, this is an instant nostalgia trip for me.

green_maia), has some problems with asking about two unrelated things in one question but it comes up with a relatively accurate analysis. It got some stuff wrong though. Yes, I like to get the details right but outside of work I'm really not organised at all and rarely make lists. And what does being creative have to do with success in finance (the whole idea of which repels me)? Also although I appreciate beauty, that doesn't translate into enjoying housework. It might force me to do it but that's another matter.
Anyway, people might enjoy seeing what their own results are. It doesn't take that long. The visual display is rather attractive. Almost all my major traits are clustered in one place with an outlying Warm and a wrong Organised.

- This meme also said that I had to tag 7 people, and not refuse to. I don't like tagging, and I don't take orders. I'd even think twice about an order to do something I'd otherwise do if asked nicely, though in this case I still wouldn't. Because I don't tag.
- I have a physics degree. This is no use to me, and neither is any of my experience.in other fields. I should have left school and learned how to drive forklifts. Forklift drivers can always get work here for some reason.
- I loathe slimy food. This means things like jelly and overcooked vegetables and overripe fruit. It makes me gag.
- I can't think straight if I can hear a conversation, or a song with lyrics. I have to talk out loud to myself to override the distraction if I'm trying to concentrate on something.
- I can raise my big toe independently of my other toes, which means I'd still be able to walk without big toes. Apparently most people can't. (I can also move my head sideways like an oriental dancer, do the Vulcan salute and the Bewitched twitch, and raise one eyebrow. I don't ever think to do the eyebrow thing though.)
- My car's number plate is LIBR8R.
- I have three cats, all monochromatic: a black-and-white, a silver tabby, and a sepia-coloured Burmese. This was not planned.

And why not, since I have so little to post about otherwise apart from the pleasure of getting more books from the library followed by a lovely lunch of corn fritters and salsa at Nosh. :-P

Aussie survey meme
9 Dec 2008 03:57 pmI should be drawing my B7 card or fixing my Lynx story to post on my site, but I'm a bit distracted with Jasmin having had her operation today (I'm picking her up shortly) and the new cat (see next post). I have however knitted the outsides (the hardest part) of two teleport bracelets. :-)
Greg comes back tonight, but with a massive cold, so I'not sure when he's going back to work, and can therefore print said unfinished B7 card. So it will be late again this year.
In the meantime, have a Australian survey meme. Hey, it makes a change from all those US high school ones, and a surprising amount applies to here as well.
