7 facts meme

Yes, it's another meme. I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] bigdamnxenafan to:

List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.

  1. This meme also said that I had to tag 7 people, and not refuse to. I don't like tagging, and I don't take orders. I'd even think twice about an order to do something I'd otherwise do if asked nicely, though in this case I still wouldn't. Because I don't tag.

  2. I have a physics degree. This is no use to me, and neither is any of my experience.in other fields. I should have left school and learned how to drive forklifts. Forklift drivers can always get work here for some reason.

  3. I loathe slimy food. This means things like jelly and overcooked vegetables and overripe fruit. It makes me gag.

  4. I can't think straight if I can hear a conversation, or a song with lyrics. I have to talk out loud to myself to override the distraction if I'm trying to concentrate on something.

  5. I can raise my big toe independently of my other toes, which means I'd still be able to walk without big toes. Apparently most people can't. (I can also move my head sideways like an oriental dancer, do the Vulcan salute and the Bewitched twitch, and raise one eyebrow. I don't ever think to do the eyebrow thing though.)

  6. My car's number plate is LIBR8R.

  7. I have three cats, all monochromatic: a black-and-white, a silver tabby, and a sepia-coloured Burmese. This was not planned.

Love your numberplate. <3

I didn't know that about toes, I can do that too. When I was 4, my mother and I were in a very serious car accident, and my mother's ankle was shattered underneath the peddles. She had to have lots of physiotherapy, which included picking up sheets of newspaper and pencils from the floor with her toes. Of course, being 4, I copied this, so I can do lots of things with my toes. I can do all those things apart from the Bewitched twitch. I'm jealous of you now ;0)

toe toga!

I can spread mine too! I always thought everyone could. We are obviously foot twins ;0)

Really? *tries it* But that's easy! :)

I make people laugh with disbelief when I do it. I went to a comedy show when I was at uni and a guy did it on stage to make the audience laugh, which was when I first realised it was unusual. Go on, entertain your work colleagues with Toe Yoga, which is what he called it. :-D

*high fives hatred of slimy food*

hey, how are you? *offers cookies*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
It took me a while to realise what all my hated foods had in common. :-P

I'm OK. I feel a bit blah because I have to do the work from hell tomorrow and, I think, every day this week, and it's torture in summer.

I should go to bed now.

awww *hugs, pokes Vila to make you tea and ice cream*

One day I will come to NZ again and make you a super fun Vila-themed cheer up party of win! This is a plan. It is sunny today so I am very happy even though I don't want to sit at my laptop and work but I have to. Oh well.

I'd feel a lot better if I had a job. I just feel crap about myself. Nothing I've learned or done seems to count for anything. I have more jobs saved online to apply for but I can't make myself do it at the moment.

I must knit a big Vila (size of a cat) that I can cuddle. The cubs love to be stroked in situ but aren't lap cats at all. I did have a nice cuddle in bed this morning with Jasmin, who lay beside me squeezed up against me. :-)

I'd be like that a lot if it wasn't for the fact that I have to fill out a form, the current one of which had to go in today because the Australia Day public holiday tomorrow. Robbed me of a day to think properly about what might, on the off-chance, impress someone. Not that I expect to hear anything other than a 'no' from those companies, if I hear anything at all :-(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-25 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yea, same. I did apply for about four more jobs needing web expertise in the hopes that mine might make them at least look.

[Edit] And I've already got a no.

It's sunny today too, but too hot for me to go out again and I forgot to buy some things. Damn.

Yes, yes, me too, which is why I so rarely listen to music. It's just far too distracting. If music is on, there are only a very limited number of things I can be doing while it is, and they're like, driving (a route I already know), drawing and maybe something mindless like playing Sims. How people can sleep let alone write to music (especially music with words) is beyond me.

I wonder if there's a word for this, since we seem to be in the minority.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think there is, but there are three of us anyway (there's another person on my flist). The majority, esp those in offices with radios turned to horrible commercial stations with as many ads as song--and ads are a LOT worse--just don't understand. I got ostracised at one place for asking them to turn the radio down so I could work. I also had to leave the room when certain songs which I hate came on. :-(

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, frequently in school if we were "good" the teacher would put on music for us, and it was AWFUL because I simply couldn't work when it was on, or I'd have to quitely mouth the words I was trying to read/write, etc. It was like punishing me for being good, and I was ALWAYS good. Ugh.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you should have done something to annoy them so they didn't put the music on. I hated sport when I was at school, and I'd deliberately drop the ball and do other stupid things at practice, and they'd punish me by making me walk round the sports field while the others played. Walking and thinking was so much more fun. :-D

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
LOL That's a great idea. Unfortunately, I was SUCH a good kid that that sort of thing never occurred to me. It would have been extremely out of character for me, too. Plus, then I'd have the rest of the class hating me (more so than they likely already did) for ruining the music for them. Sigh. I mean, imagine if you dropping the ball made the teacher punish the entire class and walk the the field with you.

POINT!

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Trying the tricks with toes, I almost made a cripple of myself, hahaha, finished sitting on the floor and laughing.
But can do a Vulcan salute with both my hands too. Live long and prosper!:-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks; I hope both come true. It's about time for the second one anyway. :-(

And for that I will keep my fingers crossed too!

5.) Me too! I didn't realise it was unusual.

6.) Hee, that's awesome!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-25 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Not many people recognise it, though a few more can decode it. :-P

[identity profile] luinielle.livejournal.com 2010-01-28 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
#3. *nods emphatically in complete agreement* ick.

#5 - And I always thought I was the only one who could do that. :o)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-28 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad someone else knows what that's like. :-P

You mean the Toe Yoga?

[identity profile] luinielle.livejournal.com 2010-01-28 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the Toe Yoga (although I can also do the Vulcan salute and raise one eyebrow). I can also stretch my toes out wide from each other (the way fingers can spread out) - which, according to my sisters is weird and 'you're not supposed to be able to do that!'. :o)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-01-29 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I can do that too (see a comment above) and surprised a physiotherapist by doing it. :-) I can also pull my fingers back at 90 degrees to my palm, and do several eastern dance moves. I wouldn't be surprised if you can too. I think it's called hypermobility. :-D
