Personality test

This personality test (gacked from [livejournal.com profile] green_maia), has some problems with asking about two unrelated things in one question but it comes up with a relatively accurate analysis. It got some stuff wrong though. Yes, I like to get the details right but outside of work I'm really not organised at all and rarely make lists. And what does being creative have to do with success in finance (the whole idea of which repels me)? Also although I appreciate beauty, that doesn't translate into enjoying housework. It might force me to do it but that's another matter.

Anyway, people might enjoy seeing what their own results are. It doesn't take that long. The visual display is rather attractive. Almost all my major traits are clustered in one place with an outlying Warm and a wrong Organised.

Intellectual

You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.

You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.

Passionate

You are in touch with your emotions, and sometimes you react before you think. The good news: you don't tamp down your feelings. The bad news: you sometimes say or do things that you later wish you could take back.

You do not live your life on an even keel; you do not go for long periods without experiencing some mood swings.

Innovative

You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.

You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.

Creative

You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.

You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.

Competent

You strive to master everything you undertake. You tend to learn quickly and do not shy away from challenges.

You are not a "que sera sera" type of person, nor do you go easy on yourself when attempting to master a new skill or get a job done.

Original

You are constantly coming up with new ideas. For you, the world as it exists is just a jumping-off place; what's going on inside your mind is often more interesting than what's going on outside.

You don't feel that the road to success is to be a realist and stick to the program; you never stop yourself from coming up with new ideas or telling the world what you're thinking about.

Aesthetic

You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.

You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.

Astute

You are a quick study. You generally don't need to have things explained to you more than once. When presented with a problem, you will often have an instant understanding of where to look for the solution.

You do not take your sweet time when presented with a new task to complete or problem to solve. You don't avoid assignments that require you to learn new skills.

Warm

You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.

You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.

Organized

You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.

You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.

Very interesting test, I like to try them. I was similar to you but I am 'loose' and 'rash' rather than organised and astute.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really not that organised except at work. I thought you'd like the link. :-)

Most of that accords with my perception of you.

Thanks! Though as someone else said in her post, the comments are very flattering. I suppose it's how they get people to pay for a more in-depth analysis.

There are some good points there that sound like you. :)

I did the test and was told I was essentially Introspective, Aesthetic and Curious. Yep.

I confess to making lists. Enjoying housework sounds like heresy all by itself. ;)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously! I read a comment elsewhere today that someone deliberately washes dishes to calm herself down. WHAT? That was a chore I loathed; I'm so glad I have a dishwasher. Next up, a Roomba (if it can handle stairs or at least not fall down them). I can handle the rest but I hate vacuuming.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wash dishes = calm down Huh?? They've obviously never washed potato-encrusted dishes where the potato has turned into concrete. That laughs at your attempt to scrub it away.

A Roomba sounds good. I remember seeing an ad on Youtube for one where a cat investigates this new Object in its house. The Roomba ends up chasing it around the room... oh dear. ;)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen a video were a young cat rides the Roomba with delight. I daresay my lot would be nervous at first but I can imagine Jasmin riding it. :-)

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
I will have to find that video. :) It's more realistic that cats would see it as a toy for them to ride. ;)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Searching for "cat roomba" or "kitten roomba" brings up several on YouTube. There's even one that looks like Jasmin.

I will admit, vacuuming does often make me feel better. Just because it somehow makes such a huge change in how clean my house looks with a fairly minimal investment of effort. It makes me feel a bit more in control of my environment, somehow. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You probably don't have stairs. I have three lots (four levels) and hate schlepping the Dyson up and down the longest lot. It does look a lot better afterwards though with three cats around.

I'd do it more often on one level (and the next house will be, I swear) but I still wouldn't like it.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, no stairs! It would probably be a lot more annoying if I did.

[identity profile] kalypso-v.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't like housework, but do like washing up. It's deeply satisfying seeing the plates come clean. I hope I never need a dishwasher; I'd have to be physically incapacitated before I'd accept one.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
So the other person said.

Perhaps it was soured for me by doing dishes with my annoying sister who often used to make me wash (though she preferred it) because she knew I preferred drying. Or claimed a stomach ache so I had to do the lot. Plus they hung over every festival meal; afterwards when I felt full and sleepy and wanted to slump in a comfy chair it was "Come on, girls! Dishes!"

[identity profile] pet-lunatic.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds quite accurate to me :) I love these tests. I also love how much money sites like this make by basically redescribing people's own assessment of their personality back to them with added graphics :D

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! I never pay for anything more so they never make anything off me. As someone said, they're quite flattering, even trying to soften the bit about mood swings, so they may get some bites.
