When protons go bad
11 Sep 2008 10:40 amSo they turned the Big Hardon Banger Large Hadron Collider on yesterday (by my time) and ran protons round it, and people are relieved nothing happened. I don't think there's any cause to worry as those collisions happen anyway, but there're not actually going to be any till next month (see the Wiki).
"The first high-energy collisions are planned to take place after the LHC is officially unveiled on 21 October 2008."
Have you see the LHC Google logo today? Mine's still showing up. :-)
