Brilliant Borge

3. The Danish/American comedian and pianist, Victor Borge was born on this day in 1909. Are you familiar with his comedy style?

I am! They used to play his acts on TV as filler when I was a kid, and I remember the literal musical comedy with piano, but he also did phonetic punctuation and one I'd forgotten, inflationary language.

Short piano shtick on Dean Martin
Phonetic punctuation

I've always loved Victor Borge and remember his skits well. He was a true genius, deadpan, very clever and hilarious. Your post prompted me to look him up on YouTube and I just watched 'Page-tuner', I laughed as much as I did years ago.

I'm a fan of his too. The BBC recently repeated a series of his that was first shown about fifty years ago, to my great enjoyment. If you like him, are you familiar with Anna Russell, who did something rather similar for opera? I think you can find some of her stuff on Youtube.
