Questions for 8 September
8 Sep 2021 11:01 pmI keep forgetting to do these. Distractions: going to level 2 today which means more freedom (but with masks), and being ridiculously pleased that my hair appointment, made before the latest lockdown, is still on tomorrow (but with masks).
6. Have you ever won a competition? If so, what was it and what did you win?
Not won, no. I came second in a piano competition as a teenager, getting just a certificate, and scored a Neil Young album in a radio phone-in years ago when no one else could translate the Latin on the cover - the only time I ever bothered to ring in. Oh yes, there was a kids' painting competition I also came second in and won a small amount of cash. But no, not first in anything.
7. Did you take classes for a musical instrument when you were younger?
The recorder for a year (required at school) and piano from age 6 right through till grade 8 as a teenager. This was my mother's dream rather than mine (as was ballet which I loathed with a burning passion, though tap-dancing was fun). My teachers said I was technically excellent but lacked expression (well, I thought I was playing expressively). I haven't played the piano since.
8. How often do you walk around barefoot?
Quite often at home; otherwise only on the beach.
