Kittens

We're off into the equinox gales to see the little kitten I'm getting from a friend in the country in a few weeks. She's the one I got Claudia from, and she also now breeds Bengals who are spotty and leopard-like, but out of our price range (and also liable to be nicked). We're getting another Burmese because Greg likes them and Claudia may be more welcoming to a kitten who is slightly related, but I'd like the next one to be from The Lonely Miaow charity.

There will be kitten picspam tomorrow.

OOH! Oddly enough I was just saying to someone via messenger that I needed to play with a kitten.

I feel I had a deprived childhood, not purposely of course, but being allergic my parents kept me away. Now I am older I know not to stroke the kitten and them rub my eyes/get it all over my clothing etc.

Do wonder where I might be likely to be able to get access to one / several.

I met a nice puppy in the park and had a play with that so I don't feel so deprived on that front now!

Are you planning on a boy or girl kitten?
One of our last acquisitions we are sure is part Bengal and she was a holy terror with the other older cats until we ended up with another waif and stray who was the same age. Now they largely chase each other and leave the older ones alone unless they make it clear they want to play too.

Oooh! Kitten!

Although somehow it always surprises me when I hear people talk about planning to get a cat. In my experience, cats are things that just happen to you. :)

People steal cats? That's horrible. Stealing someone's car or their DVD player is bad enough, but taking their pet? *hates humanity sometimes*

That's a great name for a cat charity.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, KITTEN!

I had forgotten how adorable those little purr machines are, until ours arrived. I hope all goes well and that Claudia and Vic like her.

Hee, I remember how my older cats reacted to my current kittens. There were clear "youth of today, no respect for their elders" expressions on those faces. Fortunately there are two of them so they can take their overabundance of energy out on each other. The oldsters, meanwhile, have all grown quite tolerant and even show some affection sometimes. And that's quite something, because I'm fairly sure that most of them were confirmed only cats before I adopted them.

I hope Claudia and Vic get along great with your new little fuzzball.

I remember when we got Lacey - Jassy, older and rather set in her ways, was NOT impressed by a little bundle of fur that wanted to play GERONIMO!!!!

Ah great! I wish you can have the best kitten to your liking! Mňau!

The best of luck integrating them, Claudia should have some maternal instinct and not actively attack a kitten, she may even mother it, and Vic will either totally ignore it or take it to his bosom and love it and hug it and probably call it George. I'm going by Sue's experience as a foster parent for the Cats Protection League. She ended up with 11 cats before she gave up , she had a wonderful success rate with raising very young kittens and taming down wild cats but she never really mastered the giving them back to the League for re-homing. All except one settled down nicely together and that one decided he would rather be an only cat and moved in with an elderly couple 4 doors down the street from her and was as happy as Larry .

Bengals are beautiful - a couple of people on my f'list have them, but Burmese are lovely, as well, and that sounds like a good decision for a cat joining your household right now. I'm looking forward to news of the kitten, and pictures, too!

Good luck with your new little friend! I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Presumably she's a bit too little to leave her mother for a few weeks? I hope she brings out Claudia's maternal instinct.
