Kittens

We're off into the equinox gales to see the little kitten I'm getting from a friend in the country in a few weeks. She's the one I got Claudia from, and she also now breeds Bengals who are spotty and leopard-like, but out of our price range (and also liable to be nicked). We're getting another Burmese because Greg likes them and Claudia may be more welcoming to a kitten who is slightly related, but I'd like the next one to be from The Lonely Miaow charity.

There will be kitten picspam tomorrow.

OOH! Oddly enough I was just saying to someone via messenger that I needed to play with a kitten.

I feel I had a deprived childhood, not purposely of course, but being allergic my parents kept me away. Now I am older I know not to stroke the kitten and them rub my eyes/get it all over my clothing etc.

Do wonder where I might be likely to be able to get access to one / several.

I met a nice puppy in the park and had a play with that so I don't feel so deprived on that front now!

omg kitten. *jealous!*

Are you planning on a boy or girl kitten?
One of our last acquisitions we are sure is part Bengal and she was a holy terror with the other older cats until we ended up with another waif and stray who was the same age. Now they largely chase each other and leave the older ones alone unless they make it clear they want to play too.

Oooh! Kitten!

Although somehow it always surprises me when I hear people talk about planning to get a cat. In my experience, cats are things that just happen to you. :)

People steal cats? That's horrible. Stealing someone's car or their DVD player is bad enough, but taking their pet? *hates humanity sometimes*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE KITTEN PICSPAM!!!

I've sometimes reacted to our cats when they've been in certain plants. Do you have a friend with a kitten or young cat?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
We're getting her at Labour Weekend (the 27th or so)!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
We're getting a little girl. We're hoping she'll get on with both cats, so if something happens to Claudia (she has kidney disease) she'll be friends with Vic.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
My first two did, and so did Vic. Claudia and Tessa were intended as friends for Petra and Claudia respectively, and that worked, so we're hoping the new one will get on well with both her and Vic.

I've heard of it, with unusual cat or dog breeds. It's never happened to anyone I know, I'm glad to say. I did hear about someone whose cat was taken by mistake with her car. I hate a lot of people too, but the ones who abandon animals are even worse. I'd leave those shits in the bush to find their way out without dying.

I didn't get that many--more of her adult cats--but they were so cute!

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
All your kitteh r cute.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's going to be bedlam here when she arrives! I remember Claudia wanting to bite everything whether it was food or not, and Tessa rewiring the TV and VCR. but kitten!

She will have an icon of her own.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'll have to see how they came out--it was raining so the light wasn't good.

Ooh, how exciting - I'm looking forward to the pictures :)

That's a great name for a cat charity.

It started raining once we were over the Bombays: not down but at about 45 degrees. :-P I am still a bit damp from opening farm gates.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I know! First one for ages! :-D

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
It can be difficult to predict whether cats will take to one another, but I really hope they do!
