Kitten and cat picspam

And here's Jasmin with Claudia and Vic.

Claudia weighs less than 3kg now, and her kidney function is down, though she's still quite active. I'm not sure how much longer we'll have her though, and Jasmin's really attached to her (and vice versa, when Jasmin's not being too annoying). If anything happens, I think we'll have to adopt a cat from the Lonely Miaow charity, which houses abandoned cats and kittens, because she's never cuddled up to Vic. She's a bit wary of him; I don't know why.

Awww, the cuddling is so cute. I wish mine did. I'm happy they're willing to sit in the same room together after a year.

Such lovely cats you have! Ah, Claudia, the Wise One - her eyes speak volumes and I think she knows her condition. They are all darlings...and Jasmin seems to build her strong personality. It may be the reason for not being comfortable with Vic...never mind. They are endearing!

Poor old Claudia. I'm not sure she needed a playful little kitten, but she does seem a lot less lonely and doesn't cry as much. Perhaps she does know. Animals do sense things.

I'm sorry to hear about Claudia. At least she has Jasmine to cuddle with. And babies may be annoying, but they're also adorable - and Claudia must think that, too, or else she wouldn't let her snuggle up to her so much.

I think she's pleased to have another cat to mother (Tessa was younger), but is also rather short-tempered. Which is understandable if she's not feeling well, and how would I know? She seems happy enough. She purrs with happiness when she's cuddled by any of us though (human or kitten), and she and Jasmin groom each other. Poor Vic has never been groomed. :-P

When she stops enjoying life, we will have to make a decision, but she still seems happy.

Awww, Jasmin has such an intelligent face. The photo with the cats on Greg's shoulder is really lovely. Are those your new venetian blinds? The light in that room looks very pleasant.

I think she's a bright little kitten, and very strong-willed too!

No, those are the ancient blinds in the TV room which were there when we came. We're so impressed with how well they've lasted (they must be at least 20 years old, the blind consultant said), we ordered he new ones for the living room from the same company.

Aww, they're so sweet. Here's hoping Claudia stays active for a good long while yet.

She still is, following me about in the garden. It's just that I took her to the vet for a 3-monthly injection and they did a blood test and said her kidney function and weight were down. She's still enjoying life though.

They are! Especially when left to themselves. I get the distinct impression that Jasmin is more active when I'm around; I think she's showing off.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that Claudia is ill. :( Poor girl. But it's nice to see her getting on with Jasmin so well.

Well, she's had kidney problems for about two years. She's doing quite well, considering.

It's Claudia's tail (which never sleeps) that starts Jasmin attacking. Vic's tail doesn't twitch as much. :-)

Vic seems to let her near him. Maybe they would get closer in time. It is so lovely and motherly that Claudia has adopted her.

Vic and Jasmin play! They just don't cuddle up the way the two girls do. I think they're all doing quite well. :-)

Oh, poor Claudia. But she seems happy and that's what matters--it's lovely to see her and Jasmine snuggled up together. And two cats on one shoulder=awesome. Greg is much loved, I see:D And at least Vic is getting some closeness, it seems! I love his bored expression:D.

Plus unlike me, Greg has wide shoulders. I can barely fit one cat over mine. :-P He's sometimes had all three on him while watching TV. :-)

I think she's on her last one, but she's still enjoying it!

It's very good to see Claudia and Jasmin looking so cosy together (wish my two would do that, but the best we can manage is a couple of feet apart on the sofa or my bed, and even then I have to be ready to restore order if there's a spat).

I can see from Claudia's fur that she's coming to an end - Kitty's was like that in her last days - but she's very cuggy, and I'm glad she's taken the new little girl under her wing.

So sorry to hear about Claudia but hopefully she'll still be with you for some time to come.

If Jasmin is starting to be too much of a handful for Claudia and Vic then might be a good time to get a playmate for her as it takes the strain off the older cats. We ended up doing that unintentionally with Kitsune as we were asked to find a place for Peri on a temporary basis. She's now a permanent addition because the other cats get a lot more peace as the two younger ones keep each other entertained.

You might like to get a playmate around her own age (a little younger or older wouldn't matter, I think) for Jasmin before she grows up- it's a lot easier for them to bond before they're a year old, in my experience (unless the adult cat happens to grow into the nurturing type- which you can't really tell ahead of time). Also, I have a theory (backed by quite a few cats) that female cats are much more likely to accept female kittens as friends.

Even when I've raised female & male kittens together they tend to be standoffish as adults, but whenever female kittens have grown up together they've stayed close and cuddly/grooming friendly.

Thanks. I'm seriously considering a slightly older cat, maybe 8-12 months. Otherwise Jasmin will be bereft when Claudia goes, and it will take the pressure off Claudia.

They do look sweet together.

My cats have always arrived randomly, but ones close in age seem to bond best. My older cat Doc has never really accepted the kittens who were dropped off two years ago this August.

Thanks; I'm seriously considering getting a young kitten/cat for Jasmin before Claudia goes. Getting Jasmin still wasn't stupid though, because Claudia really missed Tessa and she cries a lot less now.

Sorry to hear about Claudia. Jasmine is a cutie. Claudia doesn't look too thrilled in those pics.

She's actually quite happy in those photos. Believe me, if she didn't want to be there with Jasmin, she wouldn't be. She never gives Vic an inch, but she likes Jasmin.

I knew it was coming. She's had bad kidney function for a couple of years, and I was expecting to lose her well before plump, glossy little Tessa. I'm now seriously considering an older cat (1 year old perhaps) to distract Jasmin from tormenting Claudia by wanting to play, and to be her friend when Claudia goes.

Thanks. She's had the condition for about two years, but she's lost a lot of weight recently. She's still enjoying life though.

Is it just me, or does Jasmin always look like she's smiling?

She certainly does in the third photo! It makes a change from people thinking she was grumpy from the little markings over her eyes. :-) I think they're less obvious now as her mask darkens.

I'm sorry to hear about Claudia. You didn't need that after Tessa, but I'm glad Jasmin is providing her with companionship.

The thing was, I knew it was coming with Claudia and have for a while. Tessa was healthy and glossy, and it was completely unexpected.

Claudia seems to have lost weight recently though which is a worry. Now I'm concerned that Jasmin will be left lonely.
