Father Jack on Farscape!

Last night we watched more of Farscape season 4. It was A Prefect Murder ... and bwahahaha, Father Jack was in it!

For those of you who don't know, Father Jack is the mad old priest in the wonderful Father Ted who sits in his chair muttering, "Feck! Arse! Drink! Girls!" every now and then. The alien priest Paroos looked just like him, but with horns, and this can't be coincidence. The muppet-makers must have modelled him in homage to Father Jack, and possibly as a subtle reference to Crichton's father being called Jack too.

And here they are!

For any fan of both shows, here's an icon I couldn't resist making. If you want it, take it, but copy it to your own HD first.

Ahh! That's uncanny! :)

We laughed every time he appeared and shouted Father Jackisms at the screen. For his last scene with Chiana, it was "Feck! Arse! Tralks!"

Sorry.

Ah, that episode needs some livening up if you ask me. :)

Yeah, when you look at it, the plot was pretty thin.

Yeah, it was. Apparently TPTB realized it, too, as they made that desperate attempt to make it more interesting with the weird story structure and the funky camera stuff. I admire Farscape for being willing to try unconventional stuff like that, but it doesn't always work, and IMHO this was one example where it didn't work. Not one of my favorite episodes, although I suppose it really wasn't helped by the fact that my cable was so bad the first time I watched it that I could hardly see what was going on.

I have issues with the next one too, but I'll post on that.

ROTFL!

I intensely dislike all eps written by Saraceni (erm, ok, we suddenly have the chicks' promiscuity as a plot device and can't write them otherwise)--they get worse--but yeah, I wondered why that little guy seemed so familiar;). I adore Father Jack.

And ok. A Prefect Murder has pretty hair and costume design. And Sikozu nekkidness and HER AND CHIANA SNUGGLING AT THE END OMG (this is the point where my brain broke and I committed f/f). There. I could come up with good points in that damn script. (And Noki liked the bugs.)

I adore Father Jack.

He has one of my favourite lines:
Mrs Doyle: "What would you say to a nice cup of tea?"
Father Jack: Feck off, tea!
the chicks' promiscuity as a plot device

Yeah, yet another repressed patriarchal society, sigh. And how come it was all right for Sikozu and not Chiana? Racism?

Sikozu nekkidness

And it was in context too! I was glad to see she was wearing something less revealing than her earlier outfit otherwise though. I hate it when they put women in kinky gear to rope in the young males. They did that with Jool too; maybe her attitude was due to her clothes being so uncomfortable and utterly impractical.

Duuuude. Yes. Chiana is obviously so promiscuous the first thing she does on a new planet is to go off and seduce someone. Right. Double boggles for Sikozu who's supposed to be the overtly sensible, sarcastic geek. Riiiight.

*brain suppresses all this and does a lazy backstroke in an ocean of Chi/Sikozu*

That is brilliant. It must be intentional!

I think so. I've just watched the next ep and the doctor in it looks like the first Doctor.

Oh, man, that's very fine

It goes with all the pop references in Farscape from Crichton--except this time they sneaked a British one in. :-)
