This is a test of the new rich text mode to see how it works.

I never had a Christmas tree until a couple of years ago when I saw some beautiful glass ornaments in a shop and had to buy a tree to put them on. I got an artificial one as I hate the idea of killing a baby tree then displaying the poor dead thing for a month.

I have the Liberator on mine amongst a lot of planet-shaped baubles.

Hmm, that was fairly painless. Now to post it and see how it worked.

[Edit] Not bad, but it uses different HTML from what I would use and has only a limited number of options--no centering, blockquotes, or closing the lj-cut and adding more text. Easy to use though!

Ooh, cool! I'd put up a tree, too, if I had a Liberator ornament! (I actually do own an artificial one, for exactly the same reasons as you, but I've only ever used it once, and it's sat in the closet ever since.)

And I should try out the rich text mode, myself. I'm a little bit afraid of it, to be honest... :)

You could put Buzz and your Dalek on it! I was going to add some Babylon 4 spaceships but they were too dark to show up against the foliage.

And I should try out the rich text mode, myself. I'm a little bit afraid of it, to be honest....

You can always edit it afterwards and stuff around with the HTML (you don't get to edit or comment in rich text). They seem to be using a different format of lj-cut which must mean 'cut till end' but I admit I'm nervous that there's no closing cut. It appeared to work though.

The tree looks good! And Liberator looks good too. I might tie some cotton to my one and dangle it. On the other hand that might be too tempting for the cats.

I got good pics of Claudia the giant mutant space cat playing with my Liberator. Tessa was put right off after it swung into her face and her little nose got pronged. I haven't tried Vic with it but he's destructive enough already.

Hmm, I wonder if the BoT would let me put my Liberators on our tree. Well, he can't stop me, but he can do that shake-head-sad-look-sigh thing he does whenever he thinks I'm being too fannish :)

Greg actually suggested it! I've added a Minbari ship now as it's pinkish and shows up OK; all my other spaceships are too dark, even the Narn one. Pity I haven't got an Enterprise. Last year only one person noticed the Lib--a guy who out-geeks us.

A DRD as in 'Farscape'? I believe you can buy bags of 'em; I'd like to get some and fight the cats to play with them. I lust after some Farscape characters too, though it's a pity they don't make a light-up Stark, batteries not included...

Yep, just a wee one about 2-3cm long. I haven't seen bags of them, but I haven't looked for that sort of thing recently. These were being sold individually, and there was also a key-ring version. Tempting, but I think the antennae would break off if it was kicking around in my pocket all the time.

Nice idea, but I'm not that clever. And the thought of making tiny clothes and mask... urk.

Some people are good at it though. I have really cute little B7 guys made out of pipecleaners by the talented Harriet (they can be bought from the Hermit shop (http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/Shop/Start1.cgi); click on Blake's Seven under Fandom then search for pipe or scroll down.

A friend and I wrote a silly story about my three little guys in turns by e-mail. We illustrated it with pics of them and my cats (photoshopped together by Marian--no crew or cats were harmed or even frightened in the making of this epic). Speaking of pipecleaner people and Harriet, I thought you might be interested in this page of pictures taken by Steve Rogerson at a Gigi Edgley appearance. The first two pics are of a pipecleaner Chiana, and of Harriet with Gigi.

Your pipecleaner people story reminds me of one of the things I love the most about the fans I've encountered - we love our shows, but we also love to be silly about them :)
