I'm back!
I'm back. Yeah, I was one of those with madcow disease.
Good: My LJ is back and, as far as I can tell, intact.
Bad: I didn't realise just how addicted I was to it.
Bad: The cut on my leg I kept hoping would get better got so infected I had to see a doctor and go onto antibiotics.
Good: Blake's 7 season 2, The Peacekeeper Wars, and Julius Caesar are on their way from two different countries.
Bad: I don't have a job and I lust after Red Dwarf season five and a Corgi Starbug
Good: I have a 2-3 week contract starting on Friday.
Bad: It's on the other side of the Harbour Bridge again--Albany. Oh joy. 45-minute commutes if there are no traffic problems.
Good:
quarryquest rang me this morning and told me about the B7 cast reunion in the weekend. Michael Keating remembered me and asked after me(!!!) and
quarryquest took a picture of him raising his glass to me! Eee! Can't wait to see it.
[Edit]: More that's good: I got a Blakathon assignment which looks just my thing! Yay!

Oh, I so wish I could see him again. I wanted to meet him originally because he played Vila, but now I have, it's because he's such a lovely, sweet, and utterly charming man.

Hee! LJD!
Yay for the job. Boo for the commute. The sooner we get viable matter transporters, the better.

Why do we have to work in offices anyway? It plays havoc with traffic, you're often forced into close proximity with unpleasant people, parking's a nightmare, and there's always someone spreading something infectious. I could do a lot of my work from home if suits thought a bit more laterally. Well, there is the lure of LJ.

I dare you to write that :) (Douglas Adams did come up with the idea that being teleported was "unpleasantly like being drunk.")
Yeah, I'd much rather work from home. Tricky to set up a fully featured biochem lab in the spare bedroom, though, which is another reason why I'm looking for a new direction.
Anyway, in the Bright New Future where we do have matter transporters, nobody will need to work ;)

I've considered it, but I don't like them all being dead. :-( I have another version in which Servalan gets hold of Slave PGP (they escaped) and she reconstructs Avon from the last time the teleport was used, except that he doesn't have a soul. (Not that S4 Avon's one was much to write home about.) But I didn't know where to go with golem-Avon.
And I love that 'drunk' line--like a glass of water.
nobody will need to work
In the past, that's what they thought now would be like, and look--we work longer and longer hours. Not me though. I jumped that ship so now I work regular hours and have gaps between contracts (though the last one was a bit too long). [sigh] I don't see a time when people won't have to work. They're cheaper than robots.

Meep! Who did he have the Moment of Perfect Happiness with?

Me, I love the idea of matter transmission, just because I love going places but hate travelling, if you know what I mean. But I'd have to be convinced it was 100% accurate. The thing about "small errors" in copying actually makes me think of Farscape's "Eat Me." Yikes!

And how cool is it that MK remembered you! And you were worried about meeting him, you silly.
I will join you in the Red Dwarf lust, and hope that your leg heals quickly. And yay for everybody being back on LJ.

Everyone was right--MK was just lovely.
And my leg already looks better. :-)

Oh, you know, some times you're just writing away and something pops out that you don't expect. Actually, it's my BtVS crossover Vila, and it stems from a conversation he had with Xander, followed by a traumatic encounter with a vampire; now he has nightmares about vampire cows trying to eat him, poor baby.
And my leg already looks better.
Excellent! I hope the trend continues. :)
