Vila goes into a bar and meets...

I am once again going to do the [community profile] intoabar challenge, yet another in the now longish series of Vila meeting people in all sorts of spaces and times. However I'm running short of crossover fandoms as I've covered several, and not just in various bars either.

Any suggestions?

I've got one fandom. I need two or three more.

Problem is, I don't know what fandoms you already did...

(goes and looks at your AO3 page)
Okay, so you've already done Harry Potter and Big Bang Theory. I assume that there are more stories that simply aren't on your AO3 page. But I'm not going to go looking for them (whimper).

Um.

I assume you've already done Doctor Who, Stargate, Farscape? Firefly? Lost? Star Trek? Once Upon A Time?

Pretender?
Babylon 5?
The LEGO Movie?
NCIS?
Sherlock?
Asterix?

And Asterix which I didn't mention above - that one's so good I'm putting it on my list for this intoabar.

\o/

I basically looked at your tags to see what fandoms you knew, and came across your post about your Asterix figurines, and I thought, hmmm, wouldn't that be fun?

I love the Asterix idea!

How about... Thunderbirds/Stingray/Captain Scarlet?

No, UFO is not camp fun, really. I mean, yes, the costumes are very 60s, but the show itself... is quite serious and very good, so long as one accepts the premise.

Yeah, everyone remembers the purple wigs and forgets everything else. 8-/

The premise is as follows: Earth is fighting a secret war against aliens. The war is secret because if the public knew, there would be mass panic. So how do you disguise your Secret Headquarters? You put them underneath a movie studio. That way, if anybody sees anything wierd, they just think it's actors and costumes.

Yeah, it's a strange premise, but if you take it as given, then the rest of it follows pretty well. Though they never did explain the purple wigs. When asked, the creators just replied with "Don't you like them?"

Do you know Maybourne from Stargate SG-1?

Oh - you're not talking about the Librarian there, as I first assumed. (His dialogue is easy to write, at least...)

Voyage to the bottom of the sea, original or reboot
Downton Abbey
Forever, though I have only seen the first episode it looks good.
Highlander.
Star Maidens.

Unfortunately I only know Downton Abbey. I did consider it but I just can't imagine most of the upstairs characters in a pub / bar / cafe / tearoom / whatever. Though Vila meeting the dowager duchess would be very funny.

Leverage or Hu$tle--they'd be kindred spirits who would appreciate him.

Ooh, now those are both great possibilities. Thank you!

Have you done the Discworld yet?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2014-10-06 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually thought of it last night, and it would be very cool if I got a fairly major character I know well - not one of the minor ones that would involve a trip to the library. Very much a possibility too. And the Lib's crew encountering space elephants would be so funny. Hmmm.

Once Upon a Time? (Well, of course I was gonna suggest that one. :))

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2014-10-06 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but I've done that crossover, with the whole crew though (http://archiveofourown.org/works/779574). Not in a bar or tavern, true, but I was looking for new universes to insert the poor guy into.

And I may have found them. :-)

Yay for having found your fandoms! :)

The Duchess is the one I was thinking of, afternoon tea at Harrods where Vila has been doing a little recce perhaps. Star Maidens has to be viewed at least once if you are a Blake fan at least which you aren't IIRC. It is so bad it's like watching a train wreck you just can't look away.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2014-10-06 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You get a random character in the challenge so I might get anyone, Thomas even. Can't get much humour out of Thomas.

I heard Star Maidens was really sexist, so nope.
