Guess the Universe!

I've posted my [livejournal.com profile] intoabar story on the comm and also on AO3. It's a crossover of Blake's 7 with The Big Bang Theory.

Guess the Universe!

If you don't know The Big Bang Theory, I highly recommend it. It's a very clever and funny show about geeks with such good dialogue I watch all the reruns even if they're recent. (My only objection is the writers' assumption that woman aren't interested in fandom. Huh?)

It's strange, because I'm sure that the writers must be well aware that there are female fans of SF and of comic books. Are they afraid that they will alienate their non-geek audience (presumably the majority) if they challenge their preconceptions about women's interests? (Just remembered that there was one episode in which Penny temporarily became seriously addicted to an online game, but of course that was very much the exception.)

I... don't know why this post has suddenly appeared - look at the date! I did update the tags tonight but why that seems to have created a new post, I don't know. Oh well.

The thing is, I don't think the writers are aware. They have all the female characters including Amy not getting fandom at all and not being interested in SF. Yet Mayim Bialik who plays Amy is actually very fannish. She should educate them.

Sorry for not noticing the date. I know that the show has science advisors, but maybe it needs a fandom advisor as well.

I was intending to go and read your story, but it looks as though I must already have read it.

But somehow I hadn't read it. I have now, and greatly enjoyed it.

Thank you! I now think it was never cross-posted here, so I'm glad it showed up since I do know fans of TBBT theory who might enjoy it.

Don“t expect anything sophisticated from me - but I ENJOYED your story!!!!Very much enjoyed!!! Oh, brilliant, because I LOVE The Big Bang Theory and your idea is great!

I love it too! Do you watch it in English or do they dub as they usually do in Germany?

Unfortunately all the programes in CR are dubbed. Things are lost in translation but Big Bang fortunately has a fan translation expert, so hopefully it is relatively good. Other series are not so lucky:-)

It must be a good translation if you love the program. :-)
