I don't believe this

It's my first day back at work after being ill. So I went out to start the car (the just-repaired and repainted one) and the battery was flat. I'm sitting here waiting for the AA and feeling incredibly pissed off. This means I'll have to park at the mall and walk to work, the last thing I wanted to do with my still-crap energy levels, and I'll worry all day that one of the surprisingly many old people in the area will hit it again.

Why didn't the bloody thing go flat on Saturday?

Aaargh! *hugs*

I just hope the day gets better from here.

Me too. The AA battery service guy just came and installed a new one.

Hey. At least it's not raining.

They're perverse things, cars. They always seem to want to die when it's least convenient.

I'm impressed your AA person actually replaced the battery for you. Apparently all our automobile association will do is tow it to a service station.

I was quite impressed with the British AA when my colleague's battery was flat. I think they said 45-50 minutes, and turned up in 20. The man recharged the battery, and then explained the fault was one which might recur again, though the longer we could keep driving that evening the safer it would be. In fact, it went flat again as soon as we'd driven round the corner, but the second AA man also turned up within 20 minutes, which was still within the original time limit. He towed us to somewhere where we weren't blocking the traffic, and offered a choice of recharging or buying a new battery. Actually, I think he advised recharging for now and then going to a nearby garage next morning where the new battery would be slightly cheaper than the AA one. Given the experience of the previous half-hour, my colleague opted for an AA one on the spot. Anyway, I thought both blokes were prompt, helpful and friendly. Not having a car, I don't know how typical this was, or how other organisations compare.

Sounds pretty much like our AA, whom I've had occasion to use a few times and have always been good if not as quick as I'd have liked--as when Greg locked me out of his car at the airport then flew to Christchurch. It was freezing and I didn't have a warm coat, plus the airport security people were about to tow the car when the AA turned up and broke me in.

A pet Vila would be very useful. (Not to mention cuddly.)

The AA has a special battery service. They'll jump-start your car, and if your battery's stuffed (as mine was) replace it from a selection of new batteries in the back of the van. Oddly enough, I had to jump-start Greg's car a few weeks ago, then he got the AA round to his work to replace his battery. The bloody cars must have been chatting in the carport about how best to piss us off.

Oh, bloody *hell*. GRR. Glad the AA guy was of some actual help though.

He was very quick. I got to work an hour late so it wasn't too bad. I parked in a 120 minute zone and moved the car later into the only work carpark that had become free, so I didn't have to walk all the way from the far side of the mall. Which was good as I still have no energy.

Argh. *gives car a dirty look*
