Photos: cats in bag, mid-lick, and igloo
And here are some cat photos taken in the last couple of weeks
I was in the laundry when I heard a strange scrabbling. I looked around and only saw Ashley on the floor, doing nothing in particular. Then I heard it again--and saw two ears appear above the top of the large paper bag I keep there for paper, which I'd recently emptied into the recycle bin. It was Jasmin. I lifted the bag onto the washing machine (which I cover with a sheepskin for cats to lie on, and to keep it clean) and went for my camera.
"I bet you didn't know it was me in here."
"Admit it. I'm so much cuter than that recycle paper you usually put in here."
"In fact, I think I'll make this my home-within-a-home."
"What? You think living in a paper bag is a bit infra-dig?"
"It even makes a very elegant cape."
Ashley caught in mid-lick.
Ashley in her igloo. We bought this a couple of years ago for Claudia and Tessa, who got in and out a few times for the first week, then ignored it completely. Jasmin's made a bed for herself in our bedroom on a chair, so I got it out for Ashley last winter, and she loves it. She spends most of the night there, moving to the foot of our bed in the early morning.

I did put a pad in which used to be in the laundry basket (which Claudia and Tessa loved being in) and it has little stripy Ashleys all over it. Perhaps she recognised herself. Jasmin does sometimes get in there with her, and unlike with the snugglers nowadays, even though they're both small cats, they do both fit in the igloo easily.

And isn't it satisfying when a cat actually uses something you paid money for ?

They loved the snuggler I bought, so I got two more (and they're all used) but I really thought Claudia and Tessa would love an igloo as they liked being in things. I'm just glad someone does!

So lovely, cute darlings, and your pictures make me smile, thank you!

They're adorable! I love finding unexpected cats about the place.

Nice cozy bed Ashley has there. We got Mojo and Ballerina something similar. Though they each have a bed they like to curl up together in one. It's cute!

I love when they cuddle up together, but now it's summer they're not doing it much. Jasmin hasn't been in our bed for a while either.

Here are Tabitha and Rosie reacting in their different ways to the snow:

I'm still fascinated by the impression Ashley always lives in a black and white photo with coloured highlights!
Have you ever seen Pleasantville? It's a very good film about two modern-day teenagers who end up insoiide a 50s B&W TV series and gradually inroduce colour as people learn to throw off the strictures of their society (and series) and become themselves. After watching it, we kept seeing CLaudia as a Plaesantville cat in our world. Ashley's like that too. :-) In fact we've ended up with monochrome cats: a B&W, a shades of grey, and a sepia.
