Photos: cats in bag, mid-lick, and igloo

And here are some cat photos taken in the last couple of weeks

I was in the laundry when I heard a strange scrabbling. I looked around and only saw Ashley on the floor, doing nothing in particular. Then I heard it again--and saw two ears appear above the top of the large paper bag I keep there for paper, which I'd recently emptied into the recycle bin. It was Jasmin. I lifted the bag onto the washing machine (which I cover with a sheepskin for cats to lie on, and to keep it clean) and went for my camera.

"I bet you didn't know it was me in here."

"Admit it. I'm so much cuter than that recycle paper you usually put in here."

"In fact, I think I'll make this my home-within-a-home."

"What? You think living in a paper bag is a bit infra-dig?"

"It even makes a very elegant cape."

Ashley caught in mid-lick.

Ashley in her igloo. We bought this a couple of years ago for Claudia and Tessa, who got in and out a few times for the first week, then ignored it completely. Jasmin's made a bed for herself in our bedroom on a chair, so I got it out for Ashley last winter, and she loves it. She spends most of the night there, moving to the foot of our bed in the early morning.

Hee! Cat-in-bag is adorable. And look on that tongue on Ashley!

She was lying there in a dark room and I just took a flash photo--and got that big pink tongue!

Adorable! I have to get a kitten.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you had cats! These guys are well over 18 months old now, though they're still quite small. :-)

I had three darlings, but they all were the same age so all died within six months of one another--they were 18 and 19.

Obviously the others realised that Ashley's colours suit the igloo best!

Ah. I'm sorry to hear that. Losing Claudia and Tessa within a year of each other was hard. There'll be loads of kittens at the shelters in summer, like there are here, poor wee things, but if you're not going away, how about a Christmas present to yourself?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
She wasn't born then, and grey Claudia would have matched it. :-)

I did put a pad in which used to be in the laundry basket (which Claudia and Tessa loved being in) and it has little stripy Ashleys all over it. Perhaps she recognised herself. Jasmin does sometimes get in there with her, and unlike with the snugglers nowadays, even though they're both small cats, they do both fit in the igloo easily.

Awwwww! So adorable. I love Jasmin's expressions. Ashley look super cosy in the igloo.

They make me so happy! I'm really glad Ashley likes the igloo, which was stored away for a while. Jasmin sometimes sleeps in there with her too, but she usually prefers the chair or our bed.

How lovely to see photos of your girls looking more grown up; they are very beautiful. I love the contrast between Jasmin's points and her body - I didn't realize there would be that much difference.

And isn't it satisfying when a cat actually uses something you paid money for ?

Eeeeee! Those are gorgeous:D. Noki just walked up and she's looking very jealous at me cooing at other cats!

[identity profile] emerald-happy.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! They cheer me up too. I so need a cat. The plushies don't purr.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
AWWWW, they're so lovely and so sweet. I've saved the pics as possible future art references- if you'd rather I didn't, let me know & I'll delete them.

Ah, you really can let the cat off the bag!!!
So lovely, cute darlings, and your pictures make me smile, thank you!

Aww cute pics! They are both so adorable. Loved Jasmin's hiding place, cat's out of the bag now though. Sorry couldn't resist! :D

Nice cozy bed Ashley has there. We got Mojo and Ballerina something similar. Though they each have a bed they like to curl up together in one. It's cute!

don't recycle her by accident ;0) Very cute :0)

That is a very comfy paper bag. And I'm still fascinated by the impression Ashley always lives in a black and white photo with coloured highlights!

Here are Tabitha and Rosie reacting in their different ways to the snow:

They're both such beautiful cats. :o) Jasmin-in-a-bag is adorable! Love that look on her face in the second to last photo. Ashley looks so happy and comfortable in her igloo. The kits used to sleep in one, but they jumped on the top and caved it in and seem to like sleeping atop that even more.

The Japanese have plushies that purr and react like a cat! They're for people in tiny flats. L-P

The real thing might knock things over and mangle your Venetians trying to teleport out, but... they have personalities. And choose to love another species. :-)

Adorable!!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The difference has got more marked as she's got older. As a kitten, she had very faint points. I think her colour is the most contrasted one.

They loved the snuggler I bought, so I got two more (and they're all used) but I really thought Claudia and Tessa would love an igloo as they liked being in things. I'm just glad someone does!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[cuddles Noki to make up for it] I think they know the tone of voice, or they just pick up our thought waves. My cats usually know too when I'm talking or thinking about cats.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fine! I'd be interested to see what you do with them. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have to let her out though. She'll stay there till I leave, then she'll get out and follow me.

They're adorable! I love finding unexpected cats about the place.
