Slightly poorly Vic

Vic hasn't been eating his evening treat of soft food for the last few days, but I wasn't that worried till I saw him doing that weird mouth-opening and licking thing Claudia did when she had sore teeth, so we took him to the vet today. He needs a scale, but that's not the problem; he has a sore throat! I didn't know cats got sore throats. So he got a painkiller and an antibiotic injection, and some liquid antibiotic for the next week. We also bought him some extra-soft food and he seems a lot more keen on that, though he's been eating his Hill's dry food. Not that he couldn't stand to lose a little weight anyway; he's a prosperous-looking cat, as a friend would say.

One of the girls (not Vic as he wasn't in that room) was extensively sick last night so they didn't get soft food today. Sigh. Still, three times or so in the last year is better than Claudia and Tessa managed; they used to chuck almost weekly between them. I suspect they ate too fast.

Well, Blake just sat in his favorite spot and didn't want to eat. He didn't move the entire day. After a dose of Amoxil he was the first to the dinner plate.

And by "shot" I mean oral dose.

Isn't that an antibiotic? I'd have thought he'd need a course.

Yes, and that's what we gave him. He's healthy and hearty now.

I'm glad your kitty is feeling better.

We only managed to get half the dose down him this morning. He's strong and obstreperous. I might sneak up on him later n a stealth attack.

Blake took his like a big kitty. Most of our kitties we're lucky to get a tiny bit down them. More of the medicine winds up outside the cat (and on us) than in.

Luckily, though, kitty antibiotics taste good to the cat.

That's what we gave him, but he got his appetite back the day after we started.
