Colour gradient icons

Here are the icons I did for the last [livejournal.com profile] icon_style challenge, which was to use gradients. Coincidentally I chose the same cat picture as [livejournal.com profile] sallymn, but of course hers was much better. The flowers were the most difficult. I found a black silhouette of flowers and leaves, made it grey, then selectively applied circular and linear gradients, then added a grey gradient to the background.

Comment and credit if you'd like one.

Very cute! "Blake's 7" is to "Avon's 5" as "The Dread Pirate Roberts" is to "The Dread Pirate Westley."

Probably! :-)

I once made this icon, now owned by someone else:

Beautiful icons. I love the curious kitty and the flowers.

Thanks! There's another cat there if you look, but it's a lot less clear than in Sally's version. :-)

Oh I see it, it's by the paws. Nicely done.

I didn't spot it in either until nudged, I just thought the body looked strange. I've grabbed the tree, I don't know when I will use it I just think it is beautiful, I have a thing about leafless trees, they are some how elegant and melancholy at the same time, and this is one of the best.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, thanks! It's a winter tree at sunset--or sunrise. :-)

Oh, I liked your cat one! (well, I liked all of yours :) and was fascinated to see the difference. I think we must have found it on different sites, cause mine didn't have that curly tail...

And the flower one was brilliantly done.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I added the curly tail! :-)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
See, that's the sort of thing that never occurs to me...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
OTOH you use a lot of textures and other things that never occur to me!

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, these bring lots of joy, pure joy, I love all !!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :-)

Very pretty. I particularly like the tree.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I love the flowers and the tree!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Yet no one on the comm liked the flowers.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They're all beautiful, but I particularly like the flowers.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Pity you and some of the others here weren't on the comm, then! No one there liked the flowers, or anything but the tree, really.

I missed the voting on this one, sigh. These are all lovely - and Avon's 5 made me chuckle.

I needed some text for it, and that was all I could think of!

[identity profile] myfavouriteplum.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
The flower one is very pretty:) Are they petunias?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure! They were just black silhouettes I found on-line, turned to grey, then coloured. I just picked colours I like. :-)

You're welcome to take it if you like it.

[identity profile] myfavouriteplum.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
In my hometown(not sure about anywhere else) we call petunia "street angel"(yeah, the phrase can also be an rare euphemism for prostitutes, I think). There's also a 1937 Chinese film called "Street Angel", which is quite Ernest Lubitsch-ish, like a lot of 1930s Chinese films. I like the film, so every time when I spot petunias, I'm reminded of the film and can't help but smile.

You're welcome to take it if you like it

Thank you! I'll take it then:)

Yay! I'm glad it has a good home. :-) And I like the nickname for them.
