Tabbies, the cat Deltas
Meme from
snowgrouse:
If you were an animal, based on your personality, what would it be?
What animal would you strive towards, want to be.
I'd be an ordinary (if there is such a thing) tabby cat. Tabbies are overlooked by many but have their own subtle beauty for those who love cats. Like cats, I enjoy my food, my comfort, and some playful fun; and if threatened, I'd run up a tree or, if cornered, fight bravely. This fits me well: I'm happy in a comfy and aesthetically pleasing place with someone who loves me but allows me my independence to go off and be a cat that walks alone when I need to.
What would I strive to be? Probably not a tiger or a lion; they play too rough [/Elvis], they either have to hunt their food down, or they're captive. Probably just a better cat. :-)

I don't think I'm carefree enough to be a cat.

Maybe I'm an oyster, and I make pearls... Hmmm.

I can imagine myself as a cat, too, though I'd probably be more of a stay-at-home cat, and want to do a lot of lap-sitting.

Here are my two:
Sigi (http://www.farsight.net.nz/images/sigi.jpg), who was intelligent, wise, serene, and a real companion
Petra (http://www.farsight.net.nz/images/petra.jpg), who wasn't very bright but so playful and sweet
The icon isn't Sam, a childhood family cat, but it's very like him.
I still miss them.

They're family, so you will miss them, yes. I still think of Cindy, the cat we had throughout my childhood, and Sam, the beagle we had before Rusty.

I don't resemble that remark.
The cat we had in Sydney, Sinbad, was a black-and-white. The cat we had in Brisbane was a silver tabby (lovely!). Her name was Mithril.

I said "a lot of people". :-) I often have visitors say how beautiful Claudia and Tessa are (and friendly); Sigi and Petra used to charm too, but with their personalities. I thought them both very beautiful though.

I know that, sometimes, when Muffin's black coat catches the sunlight, I think he looks magnificent. But Thomas has always been beautiful to me.
I can imagine you missing them. Isn't it strange: they can't speak, we don't *really* know exactly what's going on in their heads, and they really are so different. Yet they're so definitely individuals and friends.

I do miss them. Like Claudia and Tessa, they loved each other too, and Petra was so bereft when Sigi died; Sigi was the one whose heart failed under an anaesthetic.
I've often thought that cats don't just allow us to caress the tiger, but also to meet the alien. There's so much we don't understand about each other but there's love and acceptance on both sides.
Thomas is beautiful. He's very like Sam, the cat our family had.

It's true, and that's a lovely way of thinking about it. Thank you.
