Dance, Vila, Dance

All right, I couldn't help myself. I had to do some more dancing Vilas once I found out how to change the dimensions of the canvas.

Season 1 Vila is a happy little guy.
PGP survivor Vila dances in sheer relief, done in answer to [livejournal.com profile] entropy_house's S4 Avon.

I'm getting better at this: his joints are in the right place now. :-)

Hey, they're a nice way of taking my mind off things like cats that won't eat because their meds put their noses out of joint, losing at cricket yet again, and not being able to get holiday accommodation where we want to go till autumn because of 1) booking late and 2) having to work in one of the only two weeks they did have in March. Feh.

There is new season TV to watch though. Heroes tonight, I think.

Dancing Vila is way too cute! Sorry to hear about all the other, less cheerful stuff, though.

Do let us know what you think of Heroes... I wasn't too sure about it at first, but I've liked it more and more the longer I've watched...

Sorry, had to fix typos.

I only saw half the double pilot, up to when pol brother is the one who flies. Nice twist; he won't be keen on selfless heroic acts to save others, though I suppose he could see it as saving votes.

I love Hiro already! If he made time go back in the train though, did all the others go back in time with him? They were still there in the background, and if they did, surely it made the papers in the 'present' we saw. So how big is his effect? It covers a whole train or just him (but then, the other passengers would have disappeared)? Yeah, I'm nitpicky that way.

Nuclear bombs. :-( Way to feed my biggest fear dating from childhood, dammit. I hope that's dealt with quickly and not the huge series arc.

Hey, we had to wait a week to see the conclusion of that! :)

I love Hiro already!

Hiro is the most adorable thing ever in the history of time. :)

It covers a whole train or just him (but then, the other passengers would have disappeared)?

Just him, apparently. I don't rememember the special effect in that scene well enough to nitpick it, though, I'm afraid. I'll take your word for it if you say it's wrong. :)

Umm....

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, shit. This doesn't count as a squick, more a recurring nightmare and huge pet fear. Bugger bugger bugger. I'll have to see if the characters will make up for it.

I don't remember the special effect in that scene well enough to nitpick it

The clock behind him flicked back in time really fast, but the passengers stayed in place. Bad marks to the SFX team then.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's mostly a threat lurking in the background for most of the season, rather than something that's dealt with on-screen constantly. And, um, it may not actually be a bomb, technically, if that helps any. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it does. It's the destruction of the whole planet and the sort of loonies (probably Muslims) who'd do it that frighten me. Sigh. I suppose it's frelling terrorists then. I like my SF escapist, not like crappy RL.

But Boston Legal will be on soon with more Shatner comedy, yay, and I hope My Name is Earl comes back soon. That's quirkily brilliant and always cheers me up.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh. I suppose it's frelling terrorists then.

Probably not. :) I don't want to give away spoilers, and it hasn't actually been definitively explained on the show yet, but there've been strong hints that, um, it's actually something else entirely.

Heroes does get a bit squicky at times, with violence and gore, but it really is very much fantasy, and all the bad things that happen tend to tie into the superpower premise. I don't know whether or not I'd call it "escapist," but it's definitely not Battlestar Galactica-style RL-in-space.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
(Or, you know, not in space. :))

Cool. I am reassured. The only bit I had to hide my eyes for was the garbage disposal scene. The girl obviously doesn't feel pain which means she'd injure herself all the time without realising, but that's OK if she's self-healing.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I make no guarantees that there won't be other stuff that will put you off, but, hey, I think it's worth giving it a chance.

Come to think of it, I believe that I perhaps found the garbage disposal thing more uncomfortable to watch than any of the (occasionally much gorier) stuff since, but that may be just me. It's probably because I find it disturbingly easy to imagine catching my hand in a garbage disposal, and fairly impossible to imagine experiencnig [spoilers deleted]. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the same. [shudders]

I assume there's no eye-squick then. ;-)

Not so far. :)

Bones is starting again soon, too, hurrah!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
And Boston Legal! I just saw a trailer: "The boys are back!" :-D

Bah. Greg only recorded one ep of Heroes and it was a double. Download time again. [rolls eyes]

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
It looks good, though!

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
I love watching little Vila dance :0)

It would be great if we could explain to them that the meds are for their own good.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've just thought up a way to have two people dancing together if I can make it work!

Cats know lots of things, but sometimes they're just bloody-minded.

[identity profile] kerr-avon.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Vila is a dancing fool! :^)

[identity profile] vila-restal.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just so happy to be on my feet still, I can't keep them still!

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
losing at cricket yet again,

You very nearly didn't, I switched on in time to hear Nixon run out and thought "Here we go again" And Vaughn seems to have done his hamstring now.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
At least we weren't thoroughly trashed. The Aussies'll do that though. :-(

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Never had the problem with our cats being put off food by meds.

If they are both being finitiky treat them like small sick children and spoil them with their favourites.
If their appetites are severly depressed though I'd have a word with the vet.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, they'll eat later when we're not in the laundry, but they won't take food straight after their meds. I think Tessa's antibiotics are upsetting her. She's stopped coughing but has been sick a few times (so yeah, I can see she is eating biscuits). Sigh.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
speaking from experience antibiotics can have that effect!

Does the vet advise them with food or on an "empty stomach"? Awkward if its with food!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's with food. Sigh. They both love tuna, but Greg thinks it's too rich and even more likely to make them chuck in larger quantities (they usually get a teaspoon every evening as a treat).

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Try pilchards or sardines if they are fish cats. Not in oil but in brine or tomato sauce!

Apart from anything else strong flavour makes meds harder to detect!

Try giving biscuits separate there may be interactions!

One of ours tends to be picky what sort of dried cat food she has. The wrong sort and back it comes, which doesn't stop her tucking in 5 minutes later!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's the meds with Tessa: I haven't changed their food.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-01-17 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor Tessa!
Hope they are doing her good in spite of being sick.
