Winter, but warmed by Farscape

It's suddenly winter! Two weeks ago it was hot outside and I was still in summer clothes. One day my Mpeg (car MP3 player) even refused to work because it was too hot. It's now plummeted to mid-winter temperatures: 15C inside right now, and as low as 5C overnight outside according to Greg's new weather station which has electronically tracked the decline and fall of summer. I don't mind too much though as it's fine and sunny again. I'd like winter if it stayed this way.

Anyway. I've now watched all of Farscape. Wow. I'm sorry it's all over. Some thoughts on the later part of S4 and The Peacekeeper Wars follow.

Massive spoilers for both )

BSG

I just watched BSG: Tigh me up, Tigh me down. Bloody hell, doesn't it occur to any of these people to have someone check the ghastly Gaius's test results? I'd think it would be basic security procedure. [rolls eyes] I hope they get rid of him soon. Compared to him, Jool was a joy and a delight.

I have to laugh every time I think of the gods of Kobol though. I can see why the Cylons might reject the whole idea; they probably prefer 4GLs.

Sorry. Off to bed now.

Ice Cold in Auckland

Oh yes, and because it was Anzac Day, and also in memory of John Mills, we watched one of our classic war DVDs: Ice Cold in Alex. We thought the North African desert setting might warm us up but we had to resort to the heater. I hadn't seen that film since I was a kid, and though I loved it then, I'd forgotten just how brilliant it is. Superb stuff.
