Fic: The Delta Domeheads

I've added another story to my site. I wrote this one about three years ago, and it's been in zine limbo. I rescued it from the defunct ttba, and then it was to go in the next edition of Chronicles but the editor stepped down so there may not be one.

The Delta Domeheads is set about seven years before The Way Back and has a 22-year-old Vila encountering a strange group of people in the pub. It's geeky, and now I read it again, a bit meta too.

[Edit:] If you haven't seen season 4, you might miss a bit of foreshadowing.

Oh that's awesome! I feel a bit like I've missed the punchline, not recognizing the name "Pinder" - but it was still very enjoyable for all that. And yes, quite meta, but in a very amusing way.

Have you seen 'Orbit'? The one where Avon tried to throw Vila off a shuttle? Pinder is the old fellow (aged by Hoffel's radiation) who lived with Egrorian, described by him as a golden youth before the accident. To quote the Sevencyclopaedia (http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/SevenCyc/P.html) (a great B7 resource):
A mathematical prodigy, who at the age of 18 accompanied Egrorian in his flight from the Space Research Institute. Exposed to Hofel's radiation, Pinder aged fifty years in as many seconds and thus appeared considerably older than 28 when encountered by Avon and Vila ten years later. By this time Pinder was virtually senile, a condition hardly helped by the sadistic way in which Egrorian treated him. Egrorian planned to leave Pinder on Malodar when he left with Servalan, but Pinder overheard and exposed both himself and Egrorian to a lethal dose of Hofel's radiation.

I *have* seen Orbit, but like all episodes not anything resembling lately, and I clean forgot about that detail. Poor Pinder.

Yeah. Not only prematurely aged but maltreated. :-( A nasty episode all round, that was.

Very very true.

*sniff* Poor Pinder, he chose the wrong mentor.

He might have been fine with Egrorian but for the accident.

It was good to read that one again. Thanks.
