Sheer genius

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] veritykindle I've found a site that has me staring longingly, my nose pressed up against the window. The Doll Doctor, a major Farscape fan, makes character dolls and plushes and they're just amazing.

The dolls are 12" articulated bought ones which she customises. She has a Stark! She has them all, including a Scorpy with removable cooling rod and optional Hawaiian shirt to turn him into Harvey--and even a Grayza. She has a lot of fun with the figures too, posing them. Ever seen a photogasm triggered by a torch (flashlight)?

[livejournal.com profile] astrogirl1 especially, you have to check out the Stark and Zhaan pose. Just awwwwwww.

Of the plushes, my favourites are Scorpy (it's the expression), Darth Maul and Yoda. OK, I still want a plush Vila, but now I want a fully-articulated doll Vila. I think I'll work towards ordering one sometime because they are truly works of art.

This reminds me that one of my goals is to someday make a doll of Servalan in the red dress. I'm not sure why, but I've had it in the back of my head to do for years; I've even bought a book on doll-making in preparation. It's puzzling, really, since I don't much care for either Servalan or dolls...

I'm not sure why

Because when you've done it, you can make a doll of Jarriere to guard her!

That's brilliant, commander!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-12-21 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! There you go: you need a Servie for your Jarriere.

Cool! And, yes, the S/Z pose made me go "aww." :)

I've never seen the base dolls she uses here but I might look next year and see if I can find one to make into a Vila.

Ohmigod. LINK OF EVIL. 8-) Thankfully the Chiana has longer hair than she should, otherwise I might just die. But ooooh at the Craisy... mmm... Aeryn... mmmm...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-12-21 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the Chiana is the only one that doesn't quite work. Her face is wrong: too angular and not cute enough. The head she used for Death would be much better.

I'm not sure I can afford to order a Vila, but I might see if I can make one myself if I can find a base doll.

Isn't it a cool site? My favorite part is where she talks about how she made the dolls, because you can see how much thought went into every little detail. Also, she brought many of the dolls to the Bostonscaper Farscape viewings, so I got to see the dolls develop. :D

The Scopius Doll, with the removable shoulders and cooling rod, and the Harvey shirt was the coolest thing *ever*! Every time she brought the dolls, I took so many pictures, it was sort of embarrassing. *g* (For example, she was making Braca and Grayza at the same time (to give them to the actors at the last Scapercon), so we had a lot of fun posing them in cool ways.)

Another thing she had that doesn't seem to be on the site are little hand-sculpted sculptures of the Farscape cast (I'm not sure about Stark, but John and Aeryn and D'Argo and Scopius definitely). They were *adorable*! I tool, like 10 pictures of them alone. I'll try to post them for you when I get home. :)

Thank you! I'd love that.

I sooo want a posable Vila.

*grins*

I could have SWORN I put a link up to that site once...

Ah well. I'll do it again. There's SO MUCH cool stuff!

I want the Stark and Zhaan, dammit! So, so, so MUCH! But that would involve breaking into Paul and Giny's houses, and I promised myself I wouldn't do that...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!

I could have SWORN I put a link up to that site once...

Maybe it was before I knew you.

Those dolls are magnificent. If I were rich, I'd order me a Stark and a Vila. That Stark is incredible.
