Waterless day
They've been working on the water mains in our street (for two months, blocking it so there's only one way in) and today there's no water all day from 9-5. So after Pilates later this morning, I'm spending the rest of the day at the Brydone Hotel because lunch, comfy seats, cakes and hot drinks, and loos. It will be a pain having to wear a mask except when eating or drinking, but I'll be immersed in Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary which I'm picking up from the library shortly. As it's a recent acquisition, less than a year old, I only get a week to read it so I should be able to get through a fair bit today.
I had to google what Hail Mary means in the US.

But at least they haven't shut off the water and driven me from my home! I hope your hotel and reading day was nice.

The problem with our street is that it's on the side of a hill and the access to the houses on the north side is via a lower terraced access way* which is one way. Our drive goes off this at a steep angle, and because we now have to go in from the wrong direction, we have to manoeuvre in the narrow access way to get down the drive (which has another sharp bend in it halfway, or I'd reverse down). This is not fun when there's a rubbish truck wanting to get past as happened today.
* Is there a name for these?
Lunch and afternoon tea at the hotel restaurant were yummy. The constant loud music much less so, but it's the only eating place with comfy chairs and sofas. Next time I'll tough it out at home with just lunch out.
