Ficlet: Gone in 60 Seconds

Last week on b7friday it was catch-up week so I wrote another crossover, this time with, well, guess who. 200 words.

Gone in 60 Seconds

"Quick, Vila. Hide the bullion and we'll come back later when the excitement's died down."

Vila scanned the street quickly. There didn't look like many places to hide a whacking great grav-sled full of gold bars. "Av--" But Avon had already teleported. "Oh, right. Typical." He rolled his eyes and began to push the sled.

"Well? Where is it? I know they haven't found it because Orac's been monitoring the planetary news."

"Dunno." Vila looked around. "I put it in a comms booth--"

"A comms booth?"

"Well, they were getting close and you'd sodded off!"

"Vila. You can't fit a grav-sled in a comms booth."

"You'd think so, wouldn't you? I was going to hide a few bars in there for later, but when I opened the door, well, it was much bigger inside. I just shoved the whole sled in." Vila spread his arms helplessly. "It was blue."

"Blue."

"And it's gone."

Avon looked at Vila for a moment. "You mean we've got nothing to show for all our work?"

"Not quite. There's this." Vila held up a small tool.

"And what is that?"

"A sonic screwdriver! It'll get you through any lock, even a magno one."

It probably was to Vila. I think he preferred the game of beating security systems and proving how clever he was to actually acquiring anything.
