Lushness

I went into the 277 shopping centre to meet my sister for lunch. She was in town for a shopping spree, something I refused to join her on (the only shopping I like is browsing at craft markets) so I settled for lunch. However, [livejournal.com profile] glitterboy1 and others, I found there's a Lush shop there! I didn't buy anything (but touched and sniffed enough edible-looking things for Greg to say I smelled like an explosion in a perfume factory) because the sheer choice befuddled me. I got their giveaway Lush Times so I can decide what I want; then Greg can buy it for me as he works just down the road. [peruses said publication] Damn. I might have to go back in person and stock up. There are several things I fancy.

Lush users, what are your recs?

Somebody gave me some very nice lavender-scented glycerin soap from there. I love lavender stuff but feel embarrassed about it because over here everyone thinks it's a granny thing.

I put lavender drops on my pillow at night to help me sleep well and Greg loves it because the scent now reminds him of me. :-) I adore the scents of ginger and vanilla too. I sniffed too many things in the shop and got confused, but I've read the catalogue now and have picked several things from the many I'd like. I shall meet Greg for lunch next week (he works nearby) and treat myself to some luxury.

everyone thinks it's a granny thing

Which annoys me, because I like it, too!

Hurrah!

I can believe that Greg noticed the smell! I get that from friends sometimes, when we meet up, a sort of "You've been to LUSH again, haven't you?!"

I haven't checked the range that you've got; experience of comparing the N.American range is that there are minor differences between countries. But some of my favourites: Ballistics: Fairy Jasmine, Youki-Hi, Butterball, Big Blue, Softy, Siclian. Bubble bars: Creamy Candy Bath. Bath Melts: Melting Marshmallow Moment, Floating Island, Ceridwen's Cauldron. Shower Gel: Back for Breakfast. Conditioners: Coolaulin, American Cream.

I think that they now have 'glitter warnings' in the Lush Times, to show which products have glitter in them. They mean what they say!

I think we have most of those, but some of them I don't recognise. I already have Big Blue and Sicilian on my list. Ooh, Butterball looks divine! I don't often have baths but this will seduce me into the habit. I've never used a bath melt, but I think this winter will be enhanced by long soaks. I fancy several of the massage bars too: Wiccy Magic Muscles, Absolution, Therapy, Shimmy Shimmy (glimmer rather than glitter) and am intrigued by the Iridescent Glitterbug which I bet you've used. ;-) And I really want some face masks.

You're not much help, you know! :-) You just make me want more.

Oh yes, I've definitely used the Iridescent Glitterbug! I like it: it has my favourite of their glitters in (the blue-purple), and it's a really easy way to get glittery.

I've never used the massage bars, but I know that S. loves Wiccy Magic Muscles.

I assume the Back for Breakfast you use isn't the frozen one! I don't think I could handle that. :-P

I'm using an almond and honey gel now which I changed to from my ginger and citrus one because this one's so lovely and creamy. However I'm am definitely going to buy a couple. They all sound good but I think I'll try Back for Breakfast and Happy for Sad. Then I'll have a choice depending on how I feel. :-)

No, I've never tried the frozen ones! I'm not really sure I fancy the idea....

Mmm, almond and honey sounds nice... I'm a bit of a fool for honey-scented things.

Red Rooster Soap :))

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-04-24 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't normally use soap; I prefer shower gels though I'm tempted by quite a few of these. [looks it up] Ooh, orange and cinnamon, nice flavour in chocolates! Greg enjoys unusual soaps if they don't smell too sweet (I buy a fair trade rainforest one from Vanuatu--probably via Port Vila, hee--with vanilla, honey, and cinnamon in it for him now) and I was going to get him the sea vegetable one, but I might get that one too. That's a lovely place for gifts too; I wish I'd known it was there before his sister Elenka's birthday.

Damn. I can't buy everything I fancy.

[identity profile] spacefall.livejournal.com 2005-04-24 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't generally use soap either, but I came to like the red rooster one for washing hands with. The soap in this house smells icky, so it's nice to have fragrant hands instead :) I sleep with my hands near my face, so any bad smells drive me nuts.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-04-25 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I do the same and don't use some moisturiser for that reason. My hands are (and have always been) really dry so I have to put something on them. I was considering getting their hand butter (Soft Touch) if it's not too strongly-scented.

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2005-04-28 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
My absolute favourite was one they don't make any more: Ulhuru (I think that was the spelling). It smelled exactly, and I kid you not, like Australia. I used to drop this ballistic in the bath when I needed a slice of home. Wasn't quite NZ, but it was close enough to make me feel better.

I have Lush addiction. I'm not allowing myself to go back to their stores til I've used up my current supplies, which could take months...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-04-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
They have Uluru (Aborigine for Ayers Rock)! [bounce] It's pink and orange and full of Aussie essential oils. I'm going to a Lush party at the shop next month and I'll buy one on your rec. Thanks!

I could buy heaps more than I did. I'm holding off till said party, at which there will also be champagne. :-D
