Does a software one count?

I'm too depressed to think up a proper post, so have a meme.

Thank you! So are many part-time writers. I'm not sure what makes for success with editors when I look at all the badly-written stuff out there, some of it best-sellers. And I'd have to be published overseas--NZ only does literary and obscure, or depressing slice-of-life stuff, not comedy or SF.

But hey, I should write one of the original novels in my head and give it a go when I'm not to tired from working. It's a pity I'm not allowed to write B7 though.

But wouldn't you like to write some non-fanfic as well, if only for the sake of variety? Surely there's a lot of satisfaction to be had from developing your own characters and settings rather than using someone else's?

As for NZ not doing comedy or SF, couldn't that change? After all, it was never involved with any fantasy epic movies before Peter Jackson. :)

I have lots of original characters and stories in my head (that's what I meant by the 'original novels') but if I could write B7, I'd have a ready-made audience, much as I do now. People who write Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who novels have that, plus marketing resources, but I don't fancy writing for any of those. I'd rather do B7 or my own stuff.

NZ is very hard for writers to break into. I believe there are on-line publishing houses though, esp for SF. I really should check those out. I know indirectly of two people who've been published that way.

I suppose I need the time and the confidence.

Well I'm doing my best to help you with the latter. :)

And I appreciate it; thanks very much! Writing is what saves me. :-)
