Fiction meme

OK, Here's the fiction meme everyone else has done, but it's the improved version from [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen. Mind you, I've only really written Blake's 7 except for 1.5 stories.

  1. What's the first story that comes to your mind when you think of my work?
  2. What did you think of it?
  3. If you haven't already, post this meme in your journal.

1. Seven Gifts
2. Wished I'd written it.

Wow, really? [huge grin plastered all over my face]

And you know, I almost didn't write that because I feared it was too soppy.

Vila Restal,s e-mails. You had their voices down so well, especially Vila. And you could make me laugh and cry with in the same e-mail.

Awww, thank you! I really enjoyed writing those. They were easier than most stories because they were basically all dialogue.

"Let There Be Light," for some reason, although I wasn't sure I remembered the title correctly. And the main thing I remember about it is that it did something I usually really dislike -- a B7 holiday story -- and made it totally work for me.

That was for a seasonal challenge on a now-defunct B7 yahoo group. I wanted to write something funny but Vila had other ideas. It's odd that you like that one with its spiritual theme, but then you love Stark.

I appear to be weirdly drawn to spiritual themes in fic. I don't understand it, either.

Seven gifts - loved it as Vila deserved it, and you gave everyone dead a happy ending in Heaven.

Thank you! He did deserve it, esp after S4. They all did--after all, they did try to do their best in life.

1)The AU where Avon sells Vila, but everyone is reasonably happy by the end.

2) Yay! Happy people! Believable happy people!

I love to make them happy because they're my friends. But I have to make it realistic too so I can believe it. :-) In the big PGP I'm writing, they won't defeat the Federation but they'll win a place for themselves where they can live out their lives.

The one that springs to mind as most distinctly you is Vila Restal's E-Mails. Creative, amusing, good voices - everything I've learned to expect from your humorous pieces.

Must add, I read Let There Be Light for the first time last night and loved the way you interwove the various traditions.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Christmas is already a mix of Christian, druidic, and Roman traditions, so I figured the process would continue. I was tempted to add Diwali in there too but decided it would get too complicated. :-P

I loved writing Vila Restal's E-mails. I suppose I think of them first for myself because they covered the whole series and all the main characters.

Vila's Emails.
Very Vila. Though the premise isn't really that realistic, it's nice in a teasing sort of slightly-fluffy way. Escapist B7, so to speak.

I wrote it to cheer myself up while I was watching because I knew what was coming. I did kill Blake and Dayna though, and S4 was the hardest because it was so bleak it was difficult to find some humour.
