Intelligence meme

From [livejournal.com profile] mistraltoes and [livejournal.com profile] banik.

Your Dominant Intelligence is Linguistic Intelligence

You are excellent with words and language. You explain yourself well. An elegant speaker, you can converse well with anyone on the fly. You are also good at remembering information and convicing someone of your point of view. An expert with creative phrasing and unique words, you enjoy expanding your vocabulary.

You would make a fantastic poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician, or translator.

That sounds right but unfortunately there's a difference between my spoken and written fluency, so no, I would not be good at most of those professions. And I resent the implication of two of them.

I can write to anyone on the fly though.

I got the same result, unsurprisingly. And, yeah, there's a big different between speaking and writing abilities for me, too. I can give a pretty good speech if I plan it out ahead of time and nobody interrupts me, but interacting with people verbally in realtime is a whole different skill area.

Oh, is it ever. :-( I'm sure that's why I'm not perceived as being as bright at work as people who are quick with words yet can't compose a clear memo. :-(

That's why I like the internet. I come across much better here than I do in person. :)

Is there such a thing as a double-snap?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. Your hand coming down--bang!--on top of mine. That happened often enough in childhood games of Snap! and was the main reason I preferred 'Fish'. :-)

Ooh, I recently made an "eh?" icon after realising how often I needed one--only I haven't had the opprtunity since. Here it is.

I did it again as Vila and despite several different answers (he's such an extrovert) he came out the same. Fair enough--he has a large vocabulary and enjoys verbal banter with Avon. I suspect he's the opposite from me--he's more fluent in speech than writing.

I came up with Linguistic Intelligence as well but I can't write a decent memo first time. And I couldn't write a story to save my life. However, like most Celts, I can talk up a storm and tell a good story, i.e something created by someone else and told in my own way. I put this down to training in my job but it looks like it was there all the time.

Ah, you're fluent at speech, like Vila! :-) Lucky you, it's a great talent to have.

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Too fluent sometimes I've been told. And like Vila I get more loquacious the more nervous I am.

Is it just me, or does Shakespeare look like he's rapping in that picture?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope not. I totally hate rap.

He's holding his lucky baby-rattle and wondering how to rehearse 'Macbeth' without saying its name. He was very superstitious. ;-)
