Map meme

Quite a few of you are on this LJ map already (enter your own username to see how many of your friends are). Those of you who aren't:

I'm trying to get all my Livejournal friends' locations plotted on a map - please add your location starting with this form. Username: (Then get your friends to!)

[Edit] Instructions:

Accept the default options on the first screen and go to the map. Don't use the world map; click on a tab at its top to get a map of your part of the world. Then enter the city you live in or one close to you in the box which appears and you'll get a more detailed map of that area. If you like, you can then zoom in 2x or 4x. Click on where you live.

If you get it wrong, you can do do it again.

It went wrong on my first attempt, and if you just go in to look then bail out, I suspect it puts you where your cursor happened to be.

It's cold out here in the North Sea... perhaps I should swim to Iceland.

I don't know what the hell I did wrong to end up *there*, all of my Finnish friends ended up in Finland.

I ended up in the wrong place too at first--on the slopes of Mt Taranaki where in fact I used to live as a kid. I did it again and put myself in the right place; that worked. You need to use the tabs to get a map of your area first, I think. Stabbing at the full map doesn't appear to work.

Also, I looked up the latitude and longtitude of my town, online, and just popped the coords in. That worked fine. So I'm on there too now.

I lived in Stratford for 3 or 4 years: most of primary school and first year of secondary. Odd place; all the streets are named for Shakespeare characters--and the river's the Avon, of course. We moved once; we lived on Orlando and Juliet, and the school is on Regan.

I tried, but I'm not sure it worked - I found it quite complicated.

I think the only reliable method, unless you know your lat and long, is to home in on a city. It does seem to know more cities than initially appear on the close-up, and when you find them it turns out that some people, communicator for instance, aren't very close to where they should be. If you don't live near a city, you're probably lost.

Click 'United Kingdom', then enter a city name in the box which appears, like 'Cardiff'.

I appear to be some where north of Brecon but at least I'm in Wales. If I could alter it I'd put me about a centimeter East of Hfren and half a centimeter North

You can alter it. Just do it again as if you're adding yourself, then click on 'United Kingdom', then enter 'Newport' in the city box which appears at the top.
