When I saw the trailer for this week's ep, I thought, "Oh no, not sodding Cybermen again."

But that was so much fun! I guessed Porridge was the Emperor very early on - he looked like the statue, he was missing, he had a certain authority. I would love to see him again. (Not that even ruling one galaxy would be possible, but hey!)

The Doctor playing himself and shifting between being himself and the cyberplanet [Edit] cyberplanner]* was excellent, and I liked all the soldiers in the platoon too.

Clara really took charge of that platoon as if she was used to authority; I wonder if she can somehow access other versions of herself whether she realises it or not.

And yay, more Vastra, Jenny, and Strax next week! And perhaps River Song?

Ah, was that "cyberplanet"? I'd heard (or possibly misheard) the word as "cyberplanner".

You're probably right. As I get older I occasionally struggle to follow dialogue, not because it's too quiet but because the diction isn't clear enough. I suppose I could watch the episode again when it's repeated on Friday, and switch on subtitles (assuming that they are available).

They didn't use the rides though, except the moon one. THe abandoned power station made me think of B7.

Clara makes a good commander. Pity the cybermen were better able to adapt than they were anticipating.

The doctor is very good at misdirection. He never planned to win the chess game, just use it to distract his inner cyberplanner and make him use all his resources in trying to solve the Doctor's "Mate in 3 moves" claim (real or bluff, we'll never know.). One thing, I'm not ever going to play Poker with the doctor if that was a bluff!

Porridge's real identity became very obvious by the soldier's commanders reaction to him. Of course the Emperor would have an override, though the quick getaway was a bit of a Deus ex machina

I'd guessed who he was before that, but that confirmed it. The commander was also very interested in Clara's description of Porridge. The fact that she wasn't at all obsequious speaks for Porridge's ruling style. I would love to see him again.
