Stuff and stuffed up

Well, crap.

This summer is still amazing - hot, dry, sunny days - which everyone but the farmers is enjoying, but I've got a cold, dammit. Greg is away in Christchurch and I thought I might use a free evening for writing, but my brain is too gummed up (along with the rest of my head). I'm sloping off to bed soon. The Pasifika festival is this weekend but I doubt I'll feel well enough to go. :-(

I haven't posted photos of the funnelheaded Burmese cat or the Pacific showcase we went to a couple of weeks ago, nor have I written any of the stories I signed up for. There aren't enough hours in the business day to cope with all the work and when I come home, usually an hour or more late, I just want a little time to myself to read before having to make dinner and watch stuff. This introvert is seriously short of alone-time. So I squandered what I got tonight.

I do actually have some story ideas but I can't cope with the effort of writing them these days. I was also going to talk about the book I'm ploughing through but, yeah, that didn't happen either.

Oh, I am sorry. Colds are a menace any time, but particularly when everyone is out enjoying the summer. (Though it seems quite rainy in Dunedin.) I'm sorry you're so starved of time, too - I know the feeling!

The weird thing is, it wasn't actually raining particularly hard that day - I was really surprised when I'd heard they'd not got any play in at all!

A lot of people seem to have colds right now which is odd. And today is one of the hottest so far - not fun in an office with no aircon.

Summer colds are the worst. :-( I hope you get better quickly! (And that you get a chance for more alone-time - it really is indispensable for the ability to recharge, isn't it.)

It so is! Work has been manic--and incredibly hot lately too. The little time I get I spend reading for trying desperately to catch up on LJ and DW.

Some days you just need to look after yourself first and leave your good intentions next to the pile of everyone else's expectations. Looking after your needs isn't really squandering them. Hope you feel much better soon!

I could do with a holiday but work is manic and I can't get time off till May. I daresay it'll rain in May. :-P Which would only be a pain if we go away as staying home and catching up with stuff has a certainb attraction right now.

I can't get time off till May which wouldn't be so bad if I had more time in the evenings. I'd like to start early and finish early which is what I used to do but I have to be in the office for standard hours (or longer) which doesn't leave me much time.

In my last job I could write at lunchtime if I stayed in but no go in this one; I just don't get the time or the quiet. I'm staying up to finally catch up a little online.

I went! The heat and walking (you're on your feet for about 3-4 hours) made me tired the next day, but it was great. I have loads of photos I must post.

The lack of time is definitely driving me bananas; I barely have time to catch up on LJ and FB. There's no time to even look at work; it's full-on all the time.

Aw, hope you feel better soon! It's always annoying the way that time to do stuff always seems to clash with ability to do stuff. It's like an as yet undiscovered universal law. :-/

I only get 30-60 minutes a day and I squander it reading. Sigh. I wish I could start work at 7:30am like I used to and get home that much earlier.

I did go to and enjoy Pasifika in the end, but today was the hottest so far, I think. Being that hot in an office without aircon really didn't make me feel great today. I never thought I'd say this, but I could so with some slightly colder weather ATM.

Are they ever! And today was sooooo hot in an office without aircon, even with all the windows open. I couldn't even feel my fan.
