Poorly Jasmin

Yesterday morning I noticed that Jasmin looked as if she had one mump: a larger left cheek. I felt it and there was indeed a lump under the fur so I rang the vet immediately but the first appointment they had was this morning. When we got home last night the abscess had opened and she was curled up among the books looking miserable (see icon). It was obviously a cat-fight; several other cats invade our garden. I wish we'd been able to get her in; it looked worse this morning and they've kept her in for the day to drain it. I'm picking her up tonight and she'll have an Elizabethan collar and will have to be kept inside.

It's lucky it's a long weekend as we'll be around for three days (though previously cats have often waited till the vet was shut for a holiday before getting ill). It still won't be easy at night as none of the cats are used to being locked in and having to use litter. We can let Ashley and Sebastian in and out during the day, but maybe we'll have to lock them out of the top level at night. Last time I tried to get them used to being in at night, Sebastian crapped on the carpet rather than use the litter, even though he did so for his first 9 months. [rolls eyes] Maybe I'll sleep in the spare room so the other two have company.

Poor little Jasmin. She's a "terrified trembler" at the vet and burrows desperately into me (they all do) and I felt mean leaving her there. She'll have lots of attention this weekend though.

Very sorry for Jasmin, but I hope she forgets about it quickly once she's feeling better. Give them all lots of strokes from me!

Poor Jasmin! She's had problems like this before, hasn't she? She needs self-defense lessons!

Poor little cat! Does she cry at the vet's or tremble silently? My brother's cat sings lamentations in a sad foghorn voice when he's taken to the vet; I told him he shouldn't be so noisy because the vet might notice him.

And yeah, our cats have always injured themselves on a Friday evening, and usually on a long weekend.

Ah, I am so sorry, poor Jasmine! I am more sensitive to everything that concerns cats. And more here because I know your lovely cats!
I am late with my comments...busy with new piles of snow which falls and falls...

Awww, poor baby! I hope she heals fast and all is well soon AND the other two behave themselves!

The other two are fine with her now. Sebastian's very sweet with her as he usually is.

Poor Jasmin. It's so worrying when there's something wrong with them, isn't it. I hope she gets well soon, and you all my best wishes.

Oh I hope Jasmin gets better quickly!

Mine hate it too when they have to use the litter box--and right now it's so cold out I have to keep their private in and out window closed so they sit next to me and whine until I give in and let them out. Then they're back within ten minutes and park themselves in front of the heat vent!

Give Jasmin an extra pet for me.

Poor little thing, Was this a tooth abscess or had she come off worst in a cat fight? though that is usually a male's problem. I've never had a tooth abscess burst on me but I have had 6 that had to be drained from under my teeth and one in my brest so she has my deepest sympathy

It seems to have been a cat fight. Several other cats come through our garden so it must have been one of them.

Poor Jasmin, I hope she is on the mend soon

Poor puss, I hope she copes with staying in OK.

I hope Jasmin feels better soon...

I hope Jasmin heals quickly and she's back to her normal self in no time. Those collars are no fun.

Poor Baby! Give her a gentle pat. I hate abscesses--one of my old Persians was always getting one because he was always fighting and refused to stay in (he broke out the kitchen window screen once). Glad the vet is helping her. You take care, too.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2013-01-26 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Vic was one for abscesses as he got in a lot of fights when he was young. Jasmin was doing her best to break out the cat door but when we harnessed her and took her out, she just slunk round miserably.

Poor Jasmin, they never understand that the vet is helping them, which makes it difficult enough to just take them there, let alone leave them. I hope she feels better soon.

She's usually very grateful when I get her home-ishe seems to know we're helping--but this time she's really annoyed about the collar.
