Final straw
Once again LJ shoots itself in the foot with its ghastly new friends page. You can see it in all its hideousness if you click on "switch to the new one" in the pale blue bar at the top; you can switch right back, and I expect you will. If that goes live as is without allowing opt-out or customisation, I will not be reading anyone on LJ. Unless, as kerravonsen says, someone can rec a good RSS feed reader that's pleasant to look at and maybe even customisable? This latest utter crap is a deal-breaker.
Depending on who stays on the sinking ship, I may have to move my comms or hand them over to someone else.
I've added everyone I know about on DW to my subscription lists and hope they'll be posting or crossposting there. If you're there and I'm not subscribed, let me know.

Presume you mean Dreamwidth subscription lists? Just in case those reading on LJ aren't quite sure...

...But right now, LiveJournal is making that extremely difficult.
As it is, my DreamWidth entries have been getting consistently more replies than LiveJournal for nearly a year now. Won't be too long before I'll no longer miss it, if we should part company forever.

As for motive, a friend thinks they want to get rid of existing members and attract hip new ones.
I'm on FB which some friends have moved house to but I much prefer this model with easily followed convos and entries I can go back to.

And urgh, having just tried it -- it's ugly and it side-scrolls, and those sticking-out bits at the right-hand side are really distracting when I'm trying to read the page.
Oddly enough, today I have enough new stuff on my DW page to need to click to older entries, and less than usual on LJ...

Fortunately I do have an account on DW!

Also, I've read a rumor that LJ is planning to eliminate ALL Paid accounts this spring. I have no confirmation, but it sounds like a logical progression. If all are free, then all will be loaded with ads and probably they'll eliminate Scrapbook, because that's a paid feature (they already borked it fairly thoroughly.)
I dunno what they'll do with Permanent accounts- whether they'll be grandfathered in & keep current attributes or what. Shall wait and see.

I'm not posting very often because I'm not in an active fandom and I don't have anything much to say about my life, sucky and boriong as it is.

I've gone over to just reading/writing Avengers/Iron Man fic on AO3 and pretty much only interacting with whoever comments. My life is pretty much too dull for words.

Sad to say, I now think SUP are intentionally driving off the older LJ users. They obviously have a very different vision of what they want LJ to be in the future.
As
I did set up a DW account sometime ago when all DDOS attacks were disrupting LJ, when I get some spare time I'll have to make myself more familiar with DW.

The only remaining issue I have with DW is that I hate the page layouts (last time I went through them, it was page after page of ugly colour combinations, and layouts with massive chunks of wasted space that allocated only a tiny spaces to the actual posts). Still, they've released a whole new set since then. I'll have to gird my loins, hunt through the new stuff and see if there's anything I can stand to use.
They do intend to add photo hosting when they can. Given that it's DW, I'm holding to a belief and hope that they will do it right. If I hadn't had the crap kicked out of me over the page layouts, I'd be behind DW 100%, but unfortunately, that left me with a very bad aftertaste.

They have a couple of decent layouts now (IMO). I have fairly narrow criteria about size of post, icon placement, and how tables and lists are displayed. I recently changed my layout to Skittish Dreams because it met those and appealed, but I also like:
Blue in Drifting style (http://vilakins.dreamwidth.org/?s2id=7163)
Swim in the Sea in Modular style (http://vilakins.dreamwidth.org/?s2id=7163)
and may swap around between them depending on how I feel (with various tweaks like colour changes)
I also really like some of the Abstractia one (see Ocean Floor (http://vilakins.dreamwidth.org/?s2id=7163)) but I like dark text on light and they didn't give an option for changing the post background. It probably wouldn't look as good anyway. I may use that style now and then for a change.
I do tweak all styles for colour, number of entries displayed, icon placement, sidebar settings etc; it's rare to find a style on DW or LJ that doesn't need changes.
