Stuff and a bit of a catch-up
I just realised I haven't posted anything (apart from a couple of b7friday stories) for over three weeks (though I've been reading and commenting). I think it's a combination of several factors: working and having less time and being tired when I get home in the evenings, the general drying-up of fannishness on my flist, and so many people having left B7 in particular... I'm still there, interested and lurking in other fandoms even though I'm not inspired to write. What I do have to write though, and soon is a finishathon story, but more of that in another post in which I will ask for some suggestions so I know what to do with it.
Another factor is that I haven't done much lately that's interesting enough to report. Last weekend though we went to How to Train your Dragon, a live show developed in Australia using huge and magnificent animatronic dragons (like the Walking with Dinosaurs creatures) the actors could interact with and climb on, and fly. They have real personality and it was worth it to see them even though we were sitting on the side and didn't see them against the projected backdrop which provided the scenery. (And Toothless is the Sebastian of dragons, just saying.)
Today is ANZAC day, the first one we've had off work for three years due to it falling on weekends and Easter. Last night we watched The Desert Rats (staunch Aussies holding out against the Afrika Korps in Tobruk) in its honour and tonight we'll pick another of our war classics. There was also a flypast over the city this morning of five WW2 planes in formation, YAY!
I'd feel happier if there hadn't been a message on the phone last night to call the doctor as my blood test results had come in. I bet it's because they're worse and I'll have to take more drugs which makes me feel pessimistic about the future. Ah well, live in the present, I suppose.

My brother and nephew went to the dawn service, and it was rather amusing how incoherent my brother was on the phone because of lack of sleep. Have been invited over for lunch and board games. 8-)

We've been enjoying a late taste of the summer we never had. I don't think it's rained for two whole weeks! I may get out the hammock later.

"Time for Coffee!" {where's the coffee? ... oh. where's my mug? ... oh. ad infinitum.}

I think another factor is that media changed: we went from a few TVs shows to fan about (B7, Farscape, etc.) to an infinity of stuff out there online, which is great, but the big interests we can all share (maybe Sherlock, etc.) are fewer and farther between--and often have fewer episodes than shows used to, so less time per year is spent fanning about the newly released stuff. Hm, thinky thoughts. I miss those days.

There's a lot of stuff I really enjoy like Sherlock, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, which I don't feel like (or in some cases, confident) writing for though I'll certainly read in them. A lot of those are such big fandoms I've never got involved due to introverted shyness, though I've joined the occasional smaller comm, e.g. a Mad Men one, where I just read and rarely comment.
I don't suppose there's an answer, but I miss the excitement and the companionship and shared interests. If my LJ is to become a blog about daily life, there aren't going to be a lot of posts.

It was an office mix-up once I managed to track it down: an old message from last month about a temporary prescription which wasn't at all urgent. I am so relieved. It ruined my day off with worry though.

Nice to see you on here x

I'm starting to feel isolated again as I really value my online friends but a lot seem to have drifted away.

I hope you blood result will be/are all right...your tiredness might be connected, for example a lack of red blood cells does it.
Funny, I returned to B7 fiction just before leaving to England. I will also watch seasons 1,2 (never bought the rest, I want them together and idealised in a way). That´s why I have always loved your stories and your Vila and your B7 pictures.
The Desert Rats! Oh, there also were Czech soldiers in Tobruk, fighting bravely, possibly together with the "Aussies"!
Well...could you please post some pictures with you lovely kitties, just for me, if you don´t mind?:-)
*HUGS*

Thank you! I might not have many readers, but I have quality! :-)
There were a lot of different nationalities at Tobruk; the film just focussed on one company. I think there was some criticism of inaccuracy, but for me I loved seeing some mention of the forgotten half of the world.
I have heaps of cat photos to post! I'm just slack of getting round to looking at the backlog.

The 'Dragon' show sounded fun (despite the seating).
The flyover of the WW2 planes was awesome. :)

It is a bit hard as fandoms go quieter... I have half-a-dozen, none of them huge these days, but they keep me a little busier...

And, you know, rl does take up quite a lot of time, and quite rightly. The How To Train Your Dragon thing sounds v interesting, anyway! (When I was a children's librarian, I used to snaffle those books as soon as they came in, because they were v fun.)
And posting B7 ficlets counts. It is a v important contribution to LJ. *nods*

I've never read the books! I thought it was just a film; live and learn!

Yes, there's quite a few of them. They are younger books, but entertaining. They're by Cressida Cowell, who usually does picture books, and sometimes illustrates - Hiccup started life in one - Hiccup the Viking Who Was Seasick. It had a splendid Viking song in it. How To Train Your Dragon also has this great little mock-library book in the middle. She also did one called Little Bo-Peep's Library Book which is a marvellous thing for when classes visit the library. I kept my copy under lock and key. :-)

It's quiet in my main fandom too these days, though I guess that gives me more time to actually do my work. I'm not sure I like that though ;) I'm still writing, but slowly.

I dunno; there were a lot of MfU writers in pico, and only me for B7. I suppose me coming in late means that I linger on after all the older fans. :-(

But I came in after you!! There must be other newbies somewhere, too. Surely?

Hope you enjoyed your ANZAC Day, it was a rather chilly one here, but very sunny.
