Ashley (and bonus Sebastian)

Ashley came home yesterday afternoon, complete with a bright pink bandage where the IV had been. She was delighted to be back and straight away ate some soft food which was very encouraging. Her mouth is still swollen and she has an incipient abscess under her chin which they thought might go away due to the antibiotics we're dosing her with, but I think I'll be taking her in tomorrow for them to look at it.

She was in our bedroom this morning eager to look out the window which showed how much better she was feeling. I took a photo of her last night in her pink bandage and two today to show how much better she's feeling.

Here she is on the heatpad last night. She wasn't happy about that bandage and kept flicking that leg with every step, occasionally stopping to lick it. I cut it off her in the evening before we went to bed, to her relief.

This was taken this afternoon through a window. She's sitting on the deck railing outside the living room; the bars are the frame for our hammock which will go up in summer. I went out to get a better photo but as soon as she saw me, she jumped down and ran towards me, meowing. :-) She then followed me round the house and inside, then demanded to go out the sliding doors to where she had been.

Sebastian followed her and I got both of them sitting on the deck.

"Incipient abscess" sounds ominous,* but it is very encouraging that she is so chipper. And she does look good in pink.

That's a great photo of the two of them...

Glad she's feeling better! I like that second photo, her posture and the sunlight.

Awww, she's the most adorable cat with lovely markings:) Loving the pink bandage, LOL. I wonder if they have blue for boys?

They hate bandages don't they? Willie had to wear one once and he just gnawed at it until he had it off :)

I'm glad to hear Ashley is doing better!

Good luck with her recovery. Silver tabbies are such pretty coats, aren't they?

awww, pink! I hope she is feeling better

Aw poor little sausage. I am glad she's on the mend. Tell her not to eat any more spiders.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
She looked so unhappy before we took her in; she's really much better. She even had some of our fish tonight. :-)

I hope she's learned. Tessa once ate a very bitter insect and foamed at the mouth so much she produced a greater volume of foam than her own self. It was fairly harmless though (apparently it's a reaction to bitterness) and she never did it again.

I was very busy yesterday and only now I have discovered what happened to Ashley!
I am really relieved that she is better, poor kočička... I think that she really might have eaten a bee, Marta´s dog Kendy stupidly catches them and his lips were like a baloon! Bee poison is long-lasting, I know this well myself.
She looks quite happy now doesn´t she? And if she eats again, this is a good sign. I hope your following days will be only good!!!!*Hugs*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
They thought a bee at first but they've had a few pets hurt by white-tailed spiders lately. As long as she gets better, and she's already well on her way.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, you have such dangerous spifers there?
Good, I am glad that all is getting back to normal!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't think eating them helps! I suppose they can only bite animal's paws or mouths; they wouldn't get through the fur. Our worst spider is the katipo which is fatal, but it's extremely rare.

I'm glad that Ashley is doing well.

I couldn't help noticing the Studio Ghibli and Fireball XL5 DVDs on the shelf behind her. In 1962-3 Fireball XL5 was probably my favourite TV programme, before Doctor Who began and replaced it in my affections.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the Fireball XL5 will be Greg's; he has a Gerry Anderson collection. I've actually never seen it though I've heard the theme song. The Ghibli collection is a great one we bought from Japan; it has English subtitles. I've never seen another as comprehensive though of course the most recent films aren't in it.

Am glad to hear she's back home... hope she feels better soon!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
She does; she's already pretty much back to normal. She won't be impressed at going back to the vet for a follow-up tomorrow and possible abscess drain though.

[identity profile] blencathra.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, poor kitten. :( I hope she feels much better soon.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! She's heaps better today. I'm so relieved it wasn't anything more serious.

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad she is better--such a pretty baby. Of course, Sebastian is quite handsome.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
They're lovely and they get on very well. I just took a photo of them cuddled up on the heatpad--just while Sebastian yawned a bright pink yawn. :-)

[identity profile] pet-lunatic.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Been away so didn't see your post about Ashley - sorry to hear she's not been well! Glad she's getting better now. Lovely photos :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. She's almost healed now and is really back to being herself. :-)

Very glad to hear she's so much better! I love that slightly self-conscious look when they're pretending not to notice you taking a photograph.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure she realised I was, with the venetians in the way. Of course when I went out with the camera, she just ran to me. Some of the photos really do look deliberately posed though. She always has her tail tucked neatly around her too; Sebastian tends to let his lie where it falls.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Poor puddy cat. Glad she's feeling better and eating again. I've always regarded not eating as a sign of feeling off.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Very much so! She's back to enjoying her food and life in general again. :-)

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's always a good sign when they go straight from the vets to the food bowl.

I hope she continues to improve and that the abscess won't need further treatment.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
It looks a lot better already so I think she might get away without further treatment. :-)

Aw, poor Ashley! I'm glad she's better now.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
It's a huge relief! She's back to her happy self.

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm also glad to hear that Ashley's on the mend. It's so worrying when there's something wrong with them, isn't it ? I took Iella to the vet a couple of weeks back for conjunctivitis, which has now cleared up. The poor girl wasn't happy about the eye drops, but put up with them with remarkably good grace.

Sebastian looks to be almost as big as Ashley already in that photo. Is he really that size ?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ashley's heaps better! Poor Iella. Tessa used to have regular eye problems and used to be rather mistrustful of the drops (and a pain to pill). Ashley's quite easy to dose which is good.

Sebastian's bigger than her! He's now the biggest of the three and he's not yet one (though he's very close to it). Ashley and Jasmin are similar sizes though I'd say Ashley's a kg lighter, Jasmin having the heavy Burmese bones.

[identity profile] stevie-carroll.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at her!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Back to her happy self!

I'm so glad she's doing so much better. *ppprrrr*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
She's heaps better; in fact back to her old self now. :-)

[identity profile] green-maia.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I am so glad she is feeling better!!

She and Sebastian are both so beautiful!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
They're gorgeous, and they get on very well which makes me happy. I often have all three around me, dotted rounhd the room or following me round outside.

[identity profile] labingi.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad she's feeling better! It must be a relief to have her home.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
It's a huge relief, esp her being back to her usual happy self. Thank you.

[identity profile] luinielle.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad Ashley is doing better. :o) Wonderful photos of her and Sebastian!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Those two get on so well, it's sweet to see them together. :-)

Yay! Aww thanks for the photos. Adorable as always.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
They are! They're lovely, all three of them, and make me happy.
