Day 28 - Lowestoft Lighthouse

I could not resist the photo [livejournal.com profile] quarryquest posted today of Lowestoft Lighthouse. Done in Artrage, with the lighthouse's texture made by squeezing virtual paint out of the tube then using the palette knife on it. :-)

I LOVE this picture! I collect miniature lighthouses and still have to get one of Lowestoft, which isn't that far from me.

you've made a beautiful one there

Thank you! :-D

Oh wow! I seriously thought that was a photo at first!

Really? But you can see all the irregularities! :-)

Splendid! It is such a beautiful combination of green abd white! I love lighthouses!
I admire the way you made the leaves glitter.

Greg loves them too which was why I just had to draw this one when I saw it. :-)

Oh this is wonderful, the different textures and the light, airy, sun-kissed feel of it...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I did put fewer clouds in the sky. :-)

You must have B7 on the brain to call me that! Nice pic though. I am flattered that people keep drawing from my photography.

Sorry, I copied some HTML code and didn't change it. :-P It's fixed now.

But you take such great photos!

That;s another lovely pic. You're getting some very good effects with Artrage - using it very well to create the different textures.

I've not been to Lowestoft in years now, but it's about 30 miles from where I grew up and was one of our regular destinations for a Sunday drive out. We usually used to eat at the Tide's Reach cafe, near the beach. There used to be a little track next door with little electric go-karts/cars for kids to zoom around in. I loved that.

You gave me a hit of nostalgia for childhood holidays! I've never been there myself. From quarryquest (http://pics.livejournal.com/vilakins/pic/002g8yp3/g100) photos of her new town, it's a beautiful place. She took the photo on her walk to Tesco.

Very nice!

Thanks!

OOOh, very, very nice! The sky, the trees, the lighthouse, the grass--- it all looks wonderful.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I've found I can put texture on lower layers with the palette knife (lighthouse) or sprinkles (the grass, an accident that stayed).

When I get my new computer & get it settled in, I do think I'll get ArtRage for it, it really looks like great fun to work with.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! There are lots of tools I've not used except when experimenting like pencils, chalk, pastels, the glooby pen...

[identity profile] luinielle.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That's beautiful - I love the paint texture on the lighthouse. :o)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! It's fun: I just squish and smear with the palette knife. Artrage is great: it was developed for artists and pretty much acts like the real thing.
