Day 2 – Experimental iris

I didn't have much time today so I played with the virtual media in Artrage. I dunno, think of it as a design for a glass coaster. Or something.

Experimental iris

As LJ-hosted pictures aren't always showing up, I also have it on Flickr.

My NaArMaMo 2011 Gallery is here; go up a level for the others.

Pretty! It would work well on glass, or maybe as a painting on silk?

Lovely, glowing colours. It does look like a design for stained glass. I like it.

Thank you!

It really does show texture--I like the colors a lot.

Thanks! I was going for really rich colours.

design for a glass coaster

Or a painting on silk.

You're the second person to think of that! :-)

That is beautiful, and does look like stained glass, or a design on silk. But - dumb question here - what is Artrage?

I keep meaning to get Artrage

It's a program that simulates various media like oils, watercolour, pastels, crayon, felt-tip pen etc. It's very realistic; colours blend as they would with wet paint, the "brush" can get dirty. In one painting (http://pics.livejournal.com/vilakins/pic/002eqb4f) I did the walls by squeezing a tube and using a palette knife to smear the paint around. That's my favourite Artrage effort so far.

Suncatcher! That's what I think of- one of those designs on glass that you hang up in windows.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I thought of that too but didn't know what they were called.

I LOVE this. That is very nice.

Thank you!

I've seen amazing knitted pictures and portraits but they'd take too long to have a go at for this as it's meant to be one a day.

Thanks! I love rich colours and played around till I got what I liked.

This is gorgeous! And it would make a really beautiful stained glass or glass coaster.

Thank you! I'm glad people like it because I wasn't sure about it at all.

I'm glad you have it on Flickr so I can see all of it ;) It's lovely!

Thanks! :-D

I have discovered that if LJ's servers won't show me a picture hosted there, I can download to my PC and see it. But that's a pain and why I'm uploading to Flickr too so people don't have to.

I should out a bug report in. If you did too, they'd know it wasn't just me.
