Wheat-bag cat

Some of you may remember the freebie cat slippers and dog slippers I got for buying Hill's Science Diet for my cats (and the cat ones are on offer again at the vet); I know some of you found them disturbing. Brace yourselves. Today I went to the Four Seasons pet supply shop for more food and I got another free gift.

A wheat-bag cat! You heat him up in the microwave and cuddle him to warm up. I have long wheat-bags I can drape round my neck for that but maybe I'll use this guy to seduce cats into more lap-time. His over-large snout makes him look strangely dog-like in profile but his B&W reminds me of Vic.

Putting even a toy cat into the microwave goes against some important principle :o)

I've been shelling out good money for Science Diet for years, and have never gotten a freebie of any sort. I am not happy.

I wonder how long he'll remain intact if the cats get their paws on him :)

He's an Evil Gluten-Cat! ;^)

But.. but... you don't have to eat him! :-P

I assume it's wheat or rice inside. Those things are generally filled with either but referred to as wheat-bags here.

*grin* I love that icon.

I have a rice-sock somewhere... I filled it with Jasmine rice and when it's heated it not only feels good it smells nice, too.

Rice works well. I have no idea what's in mine (now three of them) and I'm not going to open them to look.

That was Claudia about a month before she died. She was known for forgetting to retract her tongue and Sebastian's the same. :-)

My rice sock is a man's sock, a really huge fuzzyish athletic sock. I poured about a cup of rice in and just knotted the top.

I had a cat that used to do that--....who was it..oh, yeah, Ginger, she was part Siamese I think, but her coloring was pale reddish tabby. She'd wash and stop and leave her tongue sticking out.

entropy_house, I've done the same thing using large, unmatched socks to make warmers. I think I used flaxseed for one, because that was what was in a commercial warmer I got, but the problem is those are so small they can slip out, so rice sounds much wiser.

If you can get Jasmine rice, it's even nicer than regular rice because it has a pleasant smell when heated.

Awww... how cute. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
He is! Putting anything cat-shaped in the microwave is just wrong though.

He's so cute! Have you warmed him up, yet? Wish they were on offer here.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't yet. It won't be easy putting even a stuffed cat in a microwave.

I've never known they had offers on till I bought a bag and got presented with an unexpected gift (which so far has always made me laugh with surprised joy).

I remember watching Animal Hospital as a kid and there was one horrifying ep where a kitten got microwaved (accidentally, I don't know how) and came out looking raw and then died at the vets so I find that it being cat shaped a bit disconcerting :(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't want to know that. And I'm already not keen on microwaving a cat-shaped things.

cute! and warming ;0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He will be if I can ever put him in the microwave. I am cursed with too much imagination.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But this is lovely - to have this cat draped over my neck, warm and pleasant...mmmmmm...I like cuddly things and cat things!!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
He's quite small so he only does the back of a neck. He'd be nice on your lap too.

You could make one and fill it with (uncooked) rice! That works well.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww that is a sleepy cat,
Though I can understand your reluctance, it looks too cute to cook!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Greg will probably be more pragmatic. He comes back today and I'll unnerve him at the airport by telling him we have another cat. ;-)
