Dreamwidth invites

The huge Russian DDOS attacks on LJ seem to have intensified. I have invite codes to Dreamwidth if anyone wants one. Those of you who are already there: if I don't have you on my reading list, please tell me what your user name is so I can add you.

I should make it clear that I don't want to leave LJ. I just want to stay in touch with people when it's down. :-(

I agree about not leaving. The more I hear that the Russian government's targeting of the dissident Navalny on LJ is the reason for the outages, the less I feel inclined to let myself be bullied into moving anywhere. Sod them.

In general it's the same, but things like user names default to DW ones unless you add the extra code for LJ. This gets translated nicely so the LJ side looks the same as always, but then I'm used to using HTML, not rich text.

It's a custom userhead! I chose it for the glasses and cap or maybe short hair. They're not much but I think it runs out in six months or so. Anyway, I like it and will probably renew it because it's nicer than the generic bald one.

I wondered what's been going on with this site. I'm not reading many communities right now, other than craft groups, so I haven't been keeping up with the news. I'm not sure I want to move or join another site right now, and wasn't familiar with Dreamwidth, but it looks interesting. I'll check it out, thanks! :)

It's very much the same as LJ: same set-up and code etc but with better terminology for reading and subscribing that avoids the emotive term "friend". If you decide you'd like an incite code, let me know your email address.

It does look easier to use in some ways. I poked around a bit and found some interesting communities as well. If you still have some spare invites, I would like one.

Sent to your email address at LJ.com! It's an LJ clone with better terminology (subscribing and access) so it's easy to use. You can also post there and have it cross-post automatically to LJ which is what I do, plus you can import your journal. I gather a lot of people are doing that now so it's slow, but it works very well.

I was going to post yesterday but LJ wasn't up. I should do that today. Anyway, he's a 7-month-old black teenager called Sebastian; Ashley is fine with him, but Jasmin's still not impressed but getting better each day. He's exploring the shelves in this room as I type. :-) And now he's on my lap.

I set up a DW account after all the problems this week. I'm afraid I'll come back from holidays and find the whole thing has imploded.

I'm just nautile on DW. I haven't done anything much with it and won't have much time to spend on it for a while, but yeah, it's a safety net. I really hope LJ continues; I'll certainly stick with it.
