Knitted royal wedding gparty

Behold: the royal wedding party, including corgis! Scroll down for more photos. :-)

That's what I want to work up to; not royalty of course, but knitted or crocheted fannish characters.

Aww, that's so cute! Crocheted Amigurumi is very popular.

Those are so cute! I especially love the Worf. I have lots of crocheted doll patterns bookmarked but I think I prefer the smoothness and variety of knitting though it's probably harder to use in a doll.

If you could knit in the round on very fine needles, the effect would be lovely- but far, far beyond my skill level.

I did, many, many years ago, make a few very basic crocheted dolls. It's a fun thing to do.

I just bought some very fine circulars to knit socks, and I knit in the round a lot so that's no problems. It's the design and shaping I'd have to figure out.

Oh, those are adorable! And they are very well done. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
They are! Their faces are rather alike, but the rest is amazing.

I've seen her Knitivity done and that's very good, but I'm not into royal weddings.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-03-12 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither! Actually I think you know my republicanism from previous exchanges. I just linked for the cuteness and cleverness.

If I were a doggy person I wouldn't mind the corgis.

I prefer my dogs bigger than that and with proper length legs for their bodies.

Exactly, it's not natural to have tiny stumps for legs. Poor little buggers. :(

All you need is a generic pattern for a knitted doll and the right colours. I recommend Jean Greenhowe doll patterns (http://www.jeangreenhowe.com/)for the basic doll and basic clothes, all you need then is the patience of Job to sew all the tiny bits together.

I do have a generic knitted doll pattern I found; I just need to work out the designs of clothes.

Those dolls are very cute!

That's so cute!

One of my work colleagues knits dolls for a hobby.
She is working on a cleaning lady at the moment complete with mop, bucket, terry cloths and squirty bottles of cleaner.
She gets her designs from a book she bought. She says the basic doll is easy enough. It's the details that take the time as some are really tiny.

I can imagine! Getting the details of fandom characters' outfits right would be the hard part too.

Perhaps I should look for books on the subject.

I heard about the knitted royals on the radio, it's good to see them. I think they are good, funny but basically inaccurate as they are all smiling, which the miserable sods never do. Give me a corgi any day

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
The younger ones smile, but yeah, not a royalty fan myself.

:)

If you put a pair of glasses on him, Harry would be a dead ringer for Postman Pat.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Then he needs a black and white cat!

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
Completely precious--wish I could make something like that.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
She has pattern books apparently, but I want to make my own ones up.
