Icon meme
The icon meme is back!
* Reply to this post with ICON ME! and I will pick five of your icons.
* Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
* Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
* This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee...
sallymn chose the following.
Pi carved into a pie crust. I made this for Pi Day (14 March, but you have to look at dates the American way) and use it for desserts or food geekiness. I didn't make the pie, just the icon. I made a apple crumble for Pi Day which isn't easy to carve pi into.
This is Sofiya, a beautiful Amur leopard. The icon is by
quarryquest from a photo by
jeppy on
naturesbeauty. I just love her markings and the way she looks as if she's showing them off.
This one I made for
trennels, the comm for fans of Antonia Forest's Marlow family stories. It's from the cover of Falcon's Lure which shows Nicola Marlow (after whom I'm named!) with a falcon.
Ahahaha, Lego Maradona! I made this for the World Cup (from a photo, I might add). It's a little Lego scene showing Diego Maradona in his Argentina colours doing his famous "hand of God" goal (only goalies may handle the ball) during the game in which Argentina won. Check out the link; the Lego scene is based on the photo there.
Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis with his password. He rattled it off to John Sheppard once, impressing him with his memory till he explained what the numbers mean:
1643 – Isaac Newton's birth yearI use it for geekiness or SGA in general.
1879 - Albert Einstein's birth year
1968 - Rodney's own birth year (because he rates himself as pretty much equal to those two)
42 - the answer to life, the universe, and everything

Right, the first one is one of the photos from the famous first photo shoot Keith Morris did of Nick Drake in 1969 before his first album was released. I've always thought it illustrated him very well, a man out of time, so still and watching while this man ran past, oblivious.
The mermaid is pretty old, I can't quite remember where I got her. It was from some pictures my friend Amanda sent me, the rest were all of goddesses, and I like the mermaid best.
A still from the film Maurice, showing James Wilby as Maurice resting on the chest of Hugh Grant playing Clive Durham. The book was a favourite of mine when a teen, and my then best friend Miriam used it to tell me she was gay
Mavis Cruet, the fat fairy from Willo the wisp, voiced by Kenneth Williams
From The Ring. This is quite an old icon left over from when Glenn was writing his dissertation on the differences between the original and remakes of the film. I did a lot of proof reading and was quite tired of it in the end, especially as I've never even seen the remake

I shall add Maurice to my reading list.
Ahahaha, Kenneth Williams! That would be excellent!
I've never heard of The Ring. Is it horror?

It's by EM Forster, and wasn't published until after his death, as it was so controversial.
It was a very good cartoon :0)
It is horror, yes, a Japanese film remade (poorly) by Hollywood.
Guess what just arrived? Your Christmas card! Thank you. I got three today, my father, yours and my old schoolfriend in California. The post is terrible at the moment!
