Ficlet: Game On

Now that the authors are revealed, I should say that I wrote one small Yuletide treat. By the time I saw the pinch-hit requests they were always claimed--until the 25th, when I finally found one that wasn't yet, and for a fandom I knew. I doubt that more than two or three of you even know The IT Crowd, but hey.

Game On

Yay!! I have a very good image of Jen there. (She is now steeped in team culture and sees absolutely nothing wrong with boozing and gaming in work hours!) And Moss was lovely. I enjoyed this story even though Douglas gives me the heebiejeebies -- I actually had a nightmare about him last night...

:) I like. I like a lot. I think you captured each of the characters individual behaviours pretty well, especially in the way they each spoke.

And, why don't more people know the IT Crowd? :(

Thank you! :-D A glaring typo has now been fixed.

Because it's British? Not many people know Hyperdrive either and I love that too.

I saw below... I will admit something read wrong at that point for me... but not enough for me to sit and try and work out what was wrong :)
Hyperdrive I do not know of... but will now go and try and find it.

Spaced is another good one. Do you know Spaced?

*sighs* no I don't.
Please feel free to provide any others I should also look into.

Those are the ones that spring to mind given that you like The IT Crowd. I think they have similar quirky humour. See what you think though.

I also adore The Big Bang Theory, a US series.

Congrats on writing a Yuletide story. :)

I've only seen an ep or two of the show ages ago and I can't remember much, sorry. :(

I wrote three treats last year, but I didn't think I was going to get the chance this time.

Excellent. :) I think you've caught all the characters very well.

A couple of typos:

"—but as the users aren't doing any, it being Christmas Eve, there isn't a great demand on the services of the IT department."

I think "any" was meant to be "anything".

"A game, you say? I like games! Can I play?"

"Probably not," Roy said primly, "since it requires a certain amount of manual and mental dexterity."

"I think he meant may he play," said Roy.

The first "Roy" should be "Moss". (I have to confess to myself often saying "can" when I mean "may".)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Any" implied "any work" since Jen earlier said that "we're all at work" but that may not have been clear. You're right: it should be Moss there. I'll change both those things.

And done!

And that's what I get for writing something in half an hour. I did give it to Greg to look at and he didn't catch it either. Thanks!
