I don't celebrate Hanukkah personally, but I'm all in favour of happy festivals, so Thank You for the Good Wishes.

ps Next but one [livejournal.com profile] show_me_a_world will be This Time of Year Festivals, so if there are any traditional decorations take the pics now. The next topic is going to be Street Decorations for This Time of Year.

Thanks; I'll take a photo of the Hanukkah menorah on the last day when all the candles are lit.

Street decorations, hmmm. We don't do that much because the days are so long. Do you mean things like banners and decorations in what you'd call a high street? Most houses don't have decorations but I do have a couple of photos of tacky ones to post to that Christmas comm.

Will your daughter be doing a geeky advent calendar again? [Edit] And I see you posted about it! [goes off to look]

Yes, that's the sort of thing. Over here for summer we get hanging baskets and fancy planters full of flowering plants. Do you get those?

Not often, no. Only is there's a festival or it's a tourist area. There were lovely hanging baskets in Napier and Hastings.

I really must go through those old holiday photos and put them up while it's still the same year. :-P

Happy Hanukkah! I'll join in with any festivals that make people happy.

An excellent philosophy! :-D

What a feast! Happy Hanukkah to you. :)

Thank you! I'll make my own latkes this weekend. I may do half-and-half potato and kumara as my sister did last year; hers were absolutely delicious. :-)

Not one of the ones I personally celebrate, but I just wanted to wish you a Happy Hanukkah. Hope you have a peaceful week with a lot more delicious food (and possibly some quikeze!).

Thanks! The traditional food, you see, is fried--preferably in olive oil--to celebrate the oil that lasted miraculously. I don't eat fried food for all the days though, but probably will this weekend. I am considering having felafels tonight. Yum! The felafels will be fried, but not the pita bread or salad. ;-)

[Edit] And wow, thank you so much for the virtual Hanukkah menorah! [hugs]
