Day 24 - B is for bug-eyed monster (two in fact)

Another SF ABC for [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo today. I have three letters left, and though I have an idea for each (energy beam, orbit, and time travel), I'd welcome other suggestions for E, O, and T in case they're easier to depict. :-)

B is for bug-eyed monster

My NaArMaMo 2010 Gallery is here and my SF ABC Gallery is here.

That's so cute :) They look very friendly!

All my monsters are! :-)

They look like they'll work well together, they're already smiling at each other. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they will. My ABC universe is a happy place. :-)

Beautiful bug eyed beasties.
Exoskeletons(the empire soldiers in Star Wars) but nothing for the oyher letters.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I did galactic empire, and I prefer not to reference copyrighted stuff in the text. As is it, I'll have to redo all the visual in-jokes if anyone's interested in the series. :-)

I think an exoskeleton used for lifting would be cool, but very hard to draw. I'll think about it.

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I did search google images for possibilities other than Star Wars but the ones that came up wre very complicated. I'm still thinking but I don't think I'll come up with wny thing.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard, isn't it? I found some of the ones I've done by going through the Sevencyclopaedia.

What about extraterrestrial, orbit, transporter, exoskeleton, electron, element--and I can't think of any others.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I did alien and xenoliguistics, and I suspect a lot of people will expect ET. I have orbit already; trying to think of something fresh for that, and of course it has to be SF--ehich is why I won't do electrons--unless they're sentient electrons. I thought about excited ones for quantum leap but decided kids that age wouldn't get it. :-)

*glee* That's so clever and adorable, too.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I should have made the multiple eyes more rigid and staring, but never mind. I used the alien from "xenolinguistics". :-)

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I love the eyeballs in the large letters.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I thought I'd make use of the holes.

[identity profile] blencathra.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Love your ABCs. :)

What about Earth, Ood & TARDIS? :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd rather stay away from anything copyrighted though I don't mind putting in visual references (which I'll have to remove if anyone wants the series). I'm thinking of time travel with a sliver of a blue box showing; nothing too obvious.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I would happily work with those people. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not very good at eye contact myself, but I'd go for it!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2010-08-24 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely friendly aliens.

E is for Escape pod, Earthlings, electron beam?

O is for Outer Space, Overkill (nah, maybe not in a kids book!)

T for Teleport, Telepathy, Tractor beam, Tesla coil?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, tractor beam is a good one if I can't make my time travel idea work! Thanks! Earthlings might be funny too from an alien POV.

I love the monsters! I wonder what sort of a job they do...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-25 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know! Galactic empire bureaucracy, all tied up with green tape? :-)

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2010-08-25 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
To quote HHGTTG, 'and the bug-eyed monster?'
'is green, yes'

so cute

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-25 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
One of them is! :-)

[identity profile] stevie-carroll.livejournal.com 2010-08-25 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Very cute!

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I get the feeling they'll get along. ;)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
They will! My ABC universe is a friendly place. Even Brian the Spider only wanted to play.
