Fannish dogs

I took Jasmin back to the vet this afternoon for a check-up to ensure that the infection in her ear had cleared up (which it had) and while I was paying, a woman came in with a little brown and white dog on a leash. "This is Bodie," she said to the nurse in reception. OK, I have friends who have talked about this fandom and I couldn't resist; I asked if she had a Doyle as well, and she laughed and said yes. The same breed? Yes. I said that was very cool and cute, then when I took Jasmin out to the car, there was Doyle in the one next to it, barking wistfully through the windscreen at his owner whom he could see through the vet's window. As I pulled out, she came out to get Doyle to take him inside to be with Bodie. Awww. :-D

Cute! Did Doyle have curly hair?

They both had straight hair! :-) They looked like brothers.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. That is awesome. <3

Ha! Perfect icon!

They obviously hated being separated. :-)

Well I have had Vila and Horatio hamsters in my time ... Some time I must get a little black and white girl and call it Vala ...

I remember Vila! Vala would be cute. And probably naughty. :-)

I once rescued a cat called Doyle. He was hanging about outside my flat looking desperate, so I eventually let him in, gave him something to drink, and managed to open the thingy hanging round his neck so I could ring the phone number inside. A very relieved woman drove round at once to collect him - she said he'd been lost for several days and she'd put off a trip to London in the hope he'd come home first. The odd thing was that she subsequently turned out to be the colleague of a friend, who reported to me that there was indeed a Bodie cat too, and that they careered about their flat in a very Professional manner. Actually, the name had meant nothing to me until she explained it, as I'd never come across The Professionals.

Awww! It's the fact that they're a matched fannish pair that's so cute. In both cases, they seem to be very close.

I only know it from people talking about it here. From what I've heard it was somewhat right-wing.

I named one of my cats, a little fluffy black and white, Vila. I also has a semi-longhaired tortie and white called Cally, but that's the name she had at the Cat Shelter. After Vila died, I got a black kitten and named him Navarre, after Rutger Hauer's character in Ladyhawke.
And Iella is named after an Intelligence agent in the Star Wars novels.

I had a gerbil called Vila. I'm glad the two never met, it might not have ended well

All good names! I've come across a Cally too, named for being a calico. Who are the cats in your icon? Is one of them Vila or Navarre?

I'm glad the Star Wars novels have more female characters than the films. At least I hope they do.

That is so cute! Poor Doyle, separated from his Bodie

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-19 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Their owner came out with a resigned grin at me to get him.

That's so cute!
I'm glad Jasmin's ear infection is all cleared up.

Me too! They said to finish the drops off (2-3 more days) but she's looking very good. She's such a sweetie too, letting us do it and not running off afterwards in a sulk like Claudia and Tessa would have. She's sitting here under my computer chair in the warmth from the heater right now. :-)

Is te cat inthe icon one of yours? :-)

[identity profile] luinielle.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, she is a good natured cat. Our old cats would run off much like your Claudia and Tessa did.

I took the photo for the icon, but the cat is not one of ours. We were staying at a bed&breakfast place where the owner had a number of cats on the property. It was too cute - the cat sat at the window for a few minutes staring at the bird plushie before trying to figure out a way to get inside and grab it. :o)
