Winter flowers and cats

I meant to post these photos a lot earlier than this earlier, but today was a bit fraught: I had to study, take Jasmin to the vet with a slight ear infection, and found that some bastard in a 4WD, going by the position of the dent, bashed his door into my passenger one. Greg thinks it was when he took my car to get Indian takeaways last week because a 4WD was parked by the car when he came out; we always avoid parking by those things. I only found out now because I put the cat carrier in that side. Sigh.

Yesterday was a beautiful cloudless winter day and I decided to take photos of the winter flowers in our garden because I noticed some new pink ones I hadn't seen before. As usual, the girls followed me everywhere I went. :-)

Flowers and cats

The white camellias are still in full flower.

The impatiens are alwasy in flower: white and pink.

The vireya is still doing OK on the lower deck despite me failing to repot it or give it any plant food. Poor thing.

A pink camellia I didn't know I had! This is because we had our many trees cut back last year to expose a lot of camellia bushes that hadn't seen the sun, and this one gets quite a lot of sun so it bloomed. The others, not so far. Just as I went to take this photo, Jasmin leaped up on the railing and batted the flower as if she knew. :-)

There are some beautiful big buds. It's a pity the bushes by the bottom fence haven't flowered as they might be yet other colours.

And now, cat time. I couldn't get one of Jasmin on the deck railings as she wouldn't stay still, but Ashley was sitting on the steps to the higher deck, watching me.

Nice one, Ashley! Now let me get another one.

What are you looking at with your tongue out like that? Is it a bird?

No, it's Jasmin on the railing! Batty bat bat fight fight!

Ashley and ferns. I love her backwards S-shape.

These are lovely pictures--you winter garden seems to be full of color. Sweet kitties, too.

I dp seem to have colour a lot of the year, but actually more in winter with the camellias.

Lovely pictures, you are so lucky to have flowers in winter. The best wen have are winter flowering npansies and they only exisit during the worst of our winter only showing flowers in early and late winter. My sympathies with thw car, as you know I have been through that myself this year, but mine was definitely a bumper it was too big to be a door. It cost me £350 to have it fixed. That's half my state pension for a month, thank goodness for private pensions.

Sigh. All I'll have will be our own investments.

for winter your garden looks lovely and lush

Sorry about your car door, how annoying :0(

It's probably better in winter as it can get very dry in summer.

There are other small marks which must be from doors, but this is a real dent. It looks better now I've cleaned the white paint off it.

Aww kitties!

And the flowers are lovely too.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They love being outside with me. It's usually too cold to spend much time out there though.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! *batbatbatbat*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
They make me laugh so much when they play. They go crazy in the cat tunnel, being acrobats, U-boat commanders, and sudden;y surprised Harrier jump jets. :-D

Ahahahahahahahahahaa. <3 Noki is just a hovercraft. <3

Your cats are so photogenic :)
I've got white & pink impatiens right now as well! They're annuals here though, and about the only thing that will bloom in our shady yard.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't all cats? :-)

I can't remember ours not blooming, and they grow so well here you have to be careful they don't take over.

Sorry about the car, always unpleasant - I know.
But I enjoyed all your pictures! Having blooming camellias and that vireya outside in winter---ohhh, great attribute of NZ winter!
Ashley and Jasmine are lucky cats, and happy cats, and beautiful cats!
Thank you for your lovely pictures!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
They're a delight to have around, those cats (and the flowers too, though the old ones drop onto the deck and make a mess, esp when it rains.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
We have to clean the mess - and enjoy the beauty!
Mňau! :-)

That's so frustrating about the car door. I hate those big SUV-type things.
Your winter flowers are beautiful and so colourful. Ashley and Jasmin look like they're having a grand time playing together. Beautiful photos.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
They love it when it's sunny! I thought they were outside today but I just found them in the spare room, sleeping on the beds in the sun. I like being outside most of all when I'm out there too, which can be a problem if I want to go for a walk or take the rubbish bin up the (long) driveway to the very busy road.

Nice pics. :)

Sorry to hear about Jasmin and your dented car. :(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmin is already feeling better, I think. She's usually fairly active, but she's full of beans today. Putting drops in her ear isn't that easy though; she's such a wriggly worm it takes two of us.
