Thanks

Mates! Thanks for all the kind wishes, my friends. You've all cheered me up so much. I'm still not well but I'm getting better all the time. I did have a bad moment in the night when I thought my Starkathon fic was due this weekend but I see I have two more weeks. At least I have an idea for it now. Surprising how imminent danger concentrates the mind.

BTW, I know I'm on the mend because I can yawn again. Has anyone else ever noticed that people don't yawn when they're really ill? I wonder why. I asked New Scientist once but they ignored me.

I'm glad you're on the mend. Take care of yourself.

They probably didn't know, either.

Well, I hadn't gotten around to saying get well, so I'll take this chance to say I'm glad you're getting better, keep it up!

And Happy New Year (I think?)!

Yes! Thank you!

I hadn't noticed that, but I did join in while reading this week's letter on the subject.

Is this when you fill up on latkes and knish? Both sound very filling.

They are! Bad carbos (for me anyway) but I love them. Things dipped in honey (apples and bread) feature rather more in the hopes of a sweet future.

Actually Rosh Hashana, despite the ram's horn, is not exactly a blast. It's a time of regret over past mistakes and resolutions to do better. A nice custom is emptying your pockets of sins into some flowing water.

When I'm sick like this, my body longs for carbos for some reason though. I'd love a latke. It's the weekend tomorrow and Greg will make me a big one for breakfast. :-D A regular treat. I'm going to try making them of kumara sometime--lower glycaemic index.

Hey, good to hear you're feeling better, and thanks for your get better vibes, I think they're working :-)

The yawning thing is weird. Have you also noticed that in the same way another person can trigger of your yawning, so can a cat? If my cat yawns, I end up doing the same, and vice versa.

And just thinking of it does it too, sometimes. I have weird serial yawning attacks in the car on the way home from work occasionally, nothing to do with how tired I am, either.
