Fun ficathon

I've signed up for the "ficathon walks into a bar", which looks like a lot of fun. It's being run both on Dreamwidth (where I'm signed up for it because I can get to DW easily) and on LJ, and it doesn't matter where you sign up, but you have to do it in the next couple of days.

You only have to write a minimum of 500 words. Anyone else? :-)

Hmmm, that looks fun, but I'm not sure I could come up with four other fandoms in addition to the one I'm starting with where I'd be willing to write any character from it. I shall ponder it. It's nice to know there's no penalty if I never finish, but I'd feel guilty about it!

I managed to write Vila and the Red Dwarf crew in a bar with Avon once, so I'm willing to give this one a go. I just hope I don't end up with some obscure character I'll have to research.

Space pub!

It's clever you picked spacey-themed settings. I was considering using a Monty Python character as my walk-in, but while Doctor Who wouldn't be hard to write to that, Blake's 7 would be. And I can't pick Vila as my walk-in character if I want to include Monty Python since it's RPF.

I may try anyway and just see if whatever is selected inspires anything. You never know! Have you gotten your assignment yet, or are you still waiting?

The person running it assigns the second character once the sign-ups are closed. You have to make those two the focus, but you're free to add other characters.

And frankly I'd mix up anyone and not bother explaining how they got there. I didn't pick all space shows, but I suppose you get an element of time-travel with Lost. I went for series with characters I thought I had a fair chance of being able to write, and I do tend to like SF. :-)

True, true, that makes sense. So far I've got Doctor Who (narrowed down to just the Doctors/companion eras I think/want to write) and B7. I think I'll add Firefly . . . Hmmmm. What to pick for #4.

You don't have to pick four if you can't think of one. Who are you going for as the walk-in character?

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think I've settled on Eric Idle. I think I'm more comfortable writing Michael Palin, but that Eric would be more fun at a random bar and more willing to do silly things and engage with a stranger than Mike would.

I know I don't need four, but I think I'd like another option. I'm sort of tempted to put Merlin, ahahahaha.

Hey, why not? Anyway, Monty Python covered heaps of historical periods including Arthurian. You can always have him play a character from the Holy Grail, or some other character depending on who you get. :-D

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about that. I was thinking actually . . . you know, Eric Idle. But that could be a fun sort of tweak to it.

I could also be sneaky and suggest something like the Beatles' Help! movie or something. Technically not RPF then, so I think that'd pass her logistical issues with an RPF fandom. Just not really sure I want to go that route. I've just never really written Merlin, so it's a bit intimidating.

Hmmm, I could do Back to the Future, ahahahaaha. Shows with time traveling are always easier. XDXD

That's a fun one to add to the possibilities!

Four is stated as being the maximum, so prssumably you could specify fewer.

Oops! I should have read the whole thread before replying.
